While he was still talking to them, the messenger came down to him. The king said,“ This disaster is from the Lord. Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”

Elisha was still talking to the elders when the messenger came down to him. The king also arrived. He said,“ The Lord has sent this horrible trouble on us. Why should I wait any longer for him to help us?”

While Elisha was still saying this, the messenger arrived. And the king said,“ All this misery is from the Lord! Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”

While Elisha was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him. Then he said,“ This disaster is from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?”

While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him and he said,“ Behold, this evil is from the Lord; why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”

He was still talking to them when the messenger approached and said,“ Look, the LORD is responsible for this disaster! Why should I continue to wait for the LORD to help?”

Then his wife said to him,“ Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.”

They will pass through the land, greatly distressed and hungry. And when they are hungry, they will be enraged and will speak contemptuously against their king and their God, and turn their faces upward.

I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.

For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.

But stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face.”

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end— it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.

But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.”

so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!

Cain said to the Lord,“ My punishment is greater than I can bear.

So Moses and Aaron said to all the people of Israel,“ At evening you shall know that it was the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt,and in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard your grumbling against the Lord. For what are we, that you grumble against us?”And Moses said,“ When the Lord gives you in the evening meat to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because the Lord has heard your grumbling that you grumble against him— what are we? Your grumbling is not against us but against the Lord.”

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.

saying,“ I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said,“ What is that to us? See to it yourself.”And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself.

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.

And he said,“ Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the Lord.

Then Saul said to his armor-bearer,“ Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and mistreat me.” But his armor-bearer would not, for he feared greatly. Therefore Saul took his own sword and fell upon it.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams, or by Urim, or by prophets.Then Saul said to his servants,“ Seek out for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him,“ Behold, there is a medium at En-dor.”So Saul disguised himself and put on other garments and went, he and two men with him. And they came to the woman by night. And he said,“ Divine for me by a spirit and bring up for me whomever I shall name to you.”

They were scorched by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory.The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguishand cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds.

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

Keep your feet from going unshod and your throat from thirst. But you said,‘ It is hopeless, for I have loved foreigners, and after them I will go.’

The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

“ And you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, Thus have you said:‘ Surely our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we rot away because of them. How then can we live?’
