There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter of a cab of seed pods for five shekels.

There wasn’t enough food anywhere in the city. It was surrounded for so long that people had to weigh out two pounds of silver for a donkey’s head. They had to weigh out two ounces of silver for half a pint of seed pods.

And there was a great famine in Samaria, as they besieged it, until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.

As a result, there was a great famine in the city. The siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty pieces of silver, and a cup of dove’s dung sold for five pieces of silver.

So there was a severe famine in Samaria, and they continued the siege against it until a donkey’s head sold for thirty-four ounces of silver, and a cup of dove’s dung sold for two ounces of silver.

So there was a severe famine in Samaria; and behold, they kept besieging it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a fourth of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.

看哪，攻城的土堆已經倒到這城，要攻取它了；這城也因刀劍饑荒瘟疫的緣故交於攻擊它、的迦勒底人手中了；你所說的話都成就了；看哪，你眼看着就到了。

王問她說：『你怎麼啦？』她回答說：『這婦人對我說：「將你兒子交給我，讓我們今天來喫他；我兒子呢、明天我們再來喫。」我們就把我兒子煮了喫。第二天我對她說：「將你兒子交給我，讓我們來喫他呀」；她卻把自己的兒子藏起來。」

我就說：『唉，主永恆主啊，你看，那些神言人常對他們說：「你們必不會見刀劍，必不會遭遇饑荒；我永恆主卻要在這地方賜給你們可靠的平安。」』於是永恆主對我說：『那些神言人是冒我名傳虛假為神言的；我並沒有差遣他們，沒有吩咐他們，也沒有對他們說話；他們向你們發神言狂的乃是虛假的異象、無用的占卜、和他們自己心裏的詭詐。因此永恆主這麼說：論到那些冒我名來傳講的神言人，我沒有差遣他們，而他們還說「這地必不會遭遇刀劍和饑荒」的，那些神言人自己倒要被刀劍和饑荒滅絕呢。

四月九日、城裏大鬧饑荒，甚至當地的人民都沒有糧食。

我們若說：我們進城去吧，城裏呢、鬧饑荒，我們必死在那裏；我們若在這裏坐着不動呢，也是死。來吧，我們現在去投歸亞蘭人的軍營吧；他們若讓我們活着，我們就活着；他們若殺死我們，我們就死算了。』

我要折斷你們糧食的支杖；那時必有十個女人只在一個手提爐子給你們烤餅，又按分量將餅交回你們；你們要喫，也喫不飽。

四月九日、城裏大鬧饑荒，甚至當地的人民都沒有糧食。

永恆主說：『以色列人在我放逐他們到的列國中也必這樣喫不潔淨的食物。』我說：『啊！主永恆主啊，你看，我素來未曾被玷污；從幼年到如今都沒喫過自己死的、或被野獸撕裂的；不新鮮之肉也未曾入過我的口。』於是他對我說：『看哪，我給你牛糞代替人糞，你可以用那去烤你的餅。』他又對我說：『人子啊，看吧，我必折斷耶路撒冷中糧食的支杖；他們喫飯要按分兩、懷着掛慮的心情喫；他們喝水也要按分量驚慌慌地喝。

以利亞就去，要使亞哈看見他。那時撒瑪利亞饑荒得很厲害。
