So he said,“ Go and see where he is, so that I may send men and take him.” And it was told to him, saying,“ Behold, he is in Dothan.”

于是王说：“你们去看看他在哪里，我要派人把他捉住。”有人告诉他说：“看哪！他正在多坍。”

曰、往哉、觀其所居、我將遣人執之而至。曰、彼在多丹。

“ Go, find out where he is,” the king ordered,“ so I can send men and capture him.” The report came back:“ He is in Dothan.”

“ Go and find out where he is,” the king ordered.“ Then I can send my men and capture him.” The report came back. The officers said,“ He’s in Dothan.”

And he said,“ Go and see where he is, that I may send and seize him.” It was told him,“ Behold, he is in Dothan.”

“ Go and find out where he is,” the king commanded,“ so I can send troops to seize him.” And the report came back:“ Elisha is at Dothan.”

So the king said,“ Go and see where he is, so I can send men to capture him.” When he was told,“ Elisha is in Dothan,”

So he said,“ Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” And it was told him, saying,“ Surely he is in Dothan.”

And he said, Go and see where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

So the king said,“ Go and see where he is, so I can send men to capture him.” When he was told,“ Elisha is in Dothan,”

And he said, Go and spy where he[ is], that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold,[ he is] in Dothan.

The king ordered,“ Go, find out where he is, so I can send some men to capture him.” The king was told,“ He is in Dothan.”

He said,“ Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” He was told,“ Behold, he is in Dothan.”

Then the man said,“ They have moved from here; for I heard them say,‘ Let’s go to Dothan.’ ” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them at Dothan.

Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council meeting, and they were saying,“ What are we doing in regard to the fact that this man is performing many signs?If we let Him go on like this, all the people will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take over both our place and our nation.”But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them,“ You know nothing at all,nor are you taking into account that it is in your best interest that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish instead.”Now he did not say this on his own, but as he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation;and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.So from that day on they planned together to kill Him.

And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the Lord hid them.

He sits in the lurking places of the villages; He kills the innocent in the secret places; His eyes surreptitiously watch for the unfortunate.He lurks in secret like a lion in his lair; He lurks to catch the needy; He catches the needy when he pulls him into his net.Then he crushes the needy one, who cowers; And unfortunate people fall by his mighty power.

When it was day, the Jews formed a conspiracy and put themselves under an oath, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.There were more than forty who formed this plot.They came to the chief priests and the elders and said,“ We have put ourselves under an oath to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.Now therefore, you and the Council notify the commander to bring him down to you, as though you were going to investigate his case more thoroughly; and as for us, we are ready to kill him before he comes near the place.”But the son of Paul’s sister heard about their ambush, and he came and entered the barracks and told Paul.Paul called one of the centurions to himself and said,“ Take this young man to the commander, for he has something to report to him.”So he took him and led him to the commander and* said,“ Paul the prisoner called me over to him and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you.”The commander took him by the hand, and stepping aside, began to inquire of him privately,“ What is it that you have to report to me?”And he said,“ The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down tomorrow to the Council, as though they were going to inquire somewhat more thoroughly about him.So do not listen to them, for more than forty of them are in hiding to ambush him, and these men have put themselves under an oath not to eat or drink until they kill him; and now they are ready and waiting for assurance from you.”Then the commander let the young man go, instructing him,“ Tell no one that you have notified me of these things.”And he called to him two of the centurions and said,“ Get two hundred soldiers ready by the third hour of the night to proceed to Caesarea, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen.”They were also to provide mounts to put Paul on and bring him safely to Felix the governor.And he wrote a letter with the following content:“ Claudius Lysias, to the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings.When this man was seized by the Jews and was about to be killed by them, I came up to them with the troops and rescued him, after learning that he was a Roman.

And gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born.They said to him,“ In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet:‘ And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, Are by no means least among the leaders of Judah; For from you will come forth a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ”Then Herod secretly called for the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared.And he sent them to Bethlehem and said,“ Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.”

The wicked spies upon the righteous And seeks to kill him.The Lord will not leave him in his hand Or let him be condemned when he is judged.

The wicked plots against the righteous, And gnashes at him with his teeth.The Lord laughs at him, For He sees that his day is coming.The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow To take down the afflicted and the needy, To kill off those who are upright in conduct.

Go now, be more persistent, and investigate and see his place where he is hiding, and who has seen him there; for I am told that he is very cunning.So look, and learn about all the hiding places where he keeps himself hidden, and return to me with certainty, and I will go with you; and if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.”
