When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said,“ Am I God? Can I kill or restore life? Why does he ask me to cure a man of his skin disease? Certainly you must see that he is looking for an excuse to fight me!”

以色列王看了信就撕裂衣服，说：“我岂是神，能使人死使人活呢？这人竟打发人来，叫我治好他的大麻风。你们看一看，这人何以寻隙攻击我呢？”

以色列王读了信就撕裂衣服，说：“我岂是上帝，能使人死使人活呢？这人竟派人来，叫我治好一个人的麻风。你们要知道，看，这人是找机会来跟我吵架的。”

以色列王读完信后，就撕裂衣服说：“难道我是上帝吗？我能操纵人的生死吗？这人竟叫我医好一个人的麻风病！他只是想找借口攻打我。”

以色列王读了这信后，就撕裂自己的衣服，说：“我是神，能使人死使人活吗？这人竟派人到我这里来，要我治好他的痲风。请你们想想看，他是要找机会攻击我。”

以色列王看了信就撕裂衣服，說：「我豈是神，能使人死使人活呢？這人竟打發人來，叫我治好他的大痲瘋。你們看一看，這人何以尋隙攻擊我呢？」

以色列王讀了信就撕裂衣服，說：「我豈是上帝，能使人死使人活呢？這人竟派人來，叫我治好一個人的痲瘋。你們要知道，看，這人是找機會來跟我吵架的。」

以色列王讀了這信後，就撕裂自己的衣服，說：“我是神，能使人死使人活嗎？這人竟派人到我這裡來，要我治好他的痲風。請你們想想看，他是要找機會攻擊我。”

以色列王唸完了信，就撕裂衣服，說：『我，我哪裏是上帝，能使人死、使人活呢？這人竟送信來、叫我使一個人復原、沒有痲瘋屬之病啊！你們請想想，請看看，這人是怎樣找機會來為難我呀。』

以色列王閱書、裂其衣曰、我豈為上帝、能死生人乎、彼乃遣人詣我、使愈其癩、爾其思之、可知彼乃搆釁於我、

以色列王、覽書既畢、裂其衣曰、上帝能殺人、能甦人、我豈上帝乎、何乃遣人就我、使醫其癩、彼欲與我搆釁、爾群僚其思之。

以色列王閱書畢、自裂其衣、對群臣曰、彼遣人至、欲我醫其癩、我豈為神、能使人死生乎、爾且思之、彼尋攻我之隙可知矣、

As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said,“ Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!”

The king of Israel read the letter. As soon as he did, he tore his royal robes. He said,“ Am I God? Can I kill people and bring them back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be healed of his skin disease? He must be trying to pick a fight with me!”

And when the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said,“ Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? Only consider, and see how he is seeking a quarrel with me.”

When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes in dismay and said,“ Am I God, that I can give life and take it away? Why is this man asking me to heal someone with leprosy? I can see that he’s just trying to pick a fight with me.”

When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and asked,“ Am I God, killing and giving life, that this man expects me to cure a man of his skin disease? Recognize that he is only picking a fight with me.”

But when the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said,“ Am I God, to kill and to keep alive, that this man is sending word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? But consider now, and see how he is seeking a quarrel against me.”

And it happened, when the king of Israel read the letter, that he tore his clothes and said,“ Am I God, to kill and make alive, that this man sends a man to me to heal him of his leprosy? Therefore please consider, and see how he seeks a quarrel with me.”

And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? but consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.

When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and asked,“ Am I God, killing and giving life that this man expects me to cure a man of his skin disease? Think it over and you will see that he is only picking a fight with me.”

And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said,[ Am] I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.

When the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his clothes, and said,“ Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends to me to heal a man of his leprosy? But please consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.”

The LORD both kills and gives life; he brings down to the grave and raises up.

Jacob became furious with Rachel and exclaimed,“ Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?”

The king of Israel summoned all the leaders of the land and said,“ Notice how this man is looking for trouble. Indeed, he demanded my wives, sons, silver, and gold, and I did not resist him.”

plotting against him, to catch him in something he might say.

“ See now that I, indeed I, am he!” says the LORD,“ and there is no other god besides me. I kill and give life, I smash and I heal, and none can resist my power.

And Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, two of those who had investigated the land, tore their garments.

Neither he nor any of his attendants showed any alarm when they heard all that had been read. Nor did they tear their clothes to show any grief or sorrow.

“ Come on! Let’s return to the LORD! He himself has torn us to pieces, but he will heal us! He has injured us, but he will bandage our wounds!

I wish that they were wise and could understand this, and that they could comprehend what will happen to them.”

Then the high priest tore his clothes and declared,“ He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Now you have heard the blasphemy!

Then she saw the king standing by the pillar, according to custom. The officers stood beside the king with their trumpets and all the people of the land were celebrating and blowing trumpets. Athaliah tore her clothes and screamed,“ Treason, treason!”

But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard about it, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting,

Eliakim son of Hilkiah, the palace supervisor, accompanied by Shebna the scribe and Joah son of Asaph, the secretary, went to Hezekiah with their clothes torn and reported to him what the chief adviser had said.When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and went to the LORD’s temple.

What the king is asking is too difficult, and no one exists who can disclose it to the king, except for the gods– but they don’t live among mortals!”
