以色列人在當滅的物上犯了罪；因為猶大支派中，謝拉的曾孫，撒底的孫子，迦米的兒子亞干取了當滅的物；耶和華的怒氣就向以色列人發作。

以色列人犯了罪，違背了我所吩咐他們的約，取了當滅的物；又偷竊，又行詭詐，又把那當滅的放在他們的家具裏。因此，以色列人在仇敵面前站立不住。他們在仇敵面前轉背逃跑，是因成了被咒詛的；你們若不把當滅的物從你們中間除掉，我就不再與你們同在了。

亞哈聽見拿伯死了，就起來，下去要得耶斯列人拿伯的葡萄園。

他對我說：「這是發出行在遍地上的咒詛。凡偷竊的必按卷上這面的話除滅；凡起假誓的必按卷上那面的話除滅。萬軍之耶和華說：我必使這書卷出去，進入偷竊人的家和指我名起假誓人的家，必常在他家裏，連房屋帶木石都毀滅了。」

這些國的民豈不都要提起詩歌並俗語譏刺他說：禍哉！迦勒底人，你增添不屬自己的財物，多多取人的當頭，要到幾時為止呢？

禍哉！那些向耶和華深藏謀略的，又在暗中行事，說：誰看見我們呢？誰知道我們呢？
