But Naaman went away angry and said,“ I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.

But Naaman went away angry. He said,“ I was sure Elisha would come out to me. I thought he would stand there and pray to the Lord his God. I thought he would wave his hand over my skin. Then I would be healed.

But Naaman was angry and went away, saying,“ Behold, I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call upon the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.

But Naaman became angry and stalked away.“ I thought he would certainly come out to meet me!” he said.“ I expected him to wave his hand over the leprosy and call on the name of the Lord his God and heal me!

But Naaman got angry and left, saying,“ I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the skin disease.

But Naaman was furious and went away, and he said,“ Behold, I thought,‘ He will certainly come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the site and cure the leprosy.’

But Naaman became furious, and went away and said,“ Indeed, I said to myself,‘ He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’

But Naaman got angry and left, saying,“ I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and will wave his hand over the spot and cure the skin disease.

But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

Naaman went away angry. He said,“ Look, I thought for sure he would come out, stand there, invoke the name of the LORD his God, wave his hand over the area, and cure the skin disease.

But Naaman was angry, and went away, and said,“ Behold, I thought,‘ He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.’

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. (niv)

The centurion replied,“ Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. (niv)

For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (niv)

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become“ fools” so that you may become wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written:“ He catches the wise in their craftiness”;and again,“ The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” (niv)

“ Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him,“ you will never believe.” (niv)

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments,for,“ Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. (niv)

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? (niv)
