But Naaman went away angry. He said,“ I was sure Elisha would come out to me. I thought he would stand there and pray to the Lord his God. I thought he would wave his hand over my skin. Then I would be healed.

乃慢怒、曰、我意謂彼必出、立而籲其上帝耶和華之名、以手懸撫於病處、而醫我癩。

But Naaman went away angry and said,“ I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.

But Naaman was angry and went away, saying,“ Behold, I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call upon the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.

But Naaman became angry and stalked away.“ I thought he would certainly come out to meet me!” he said.“ I expected him to wave his hand over the leprosy and call on the name of the Lord his God and heal me!

But Naaman got angry and left, saying,“ I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the skin disease.

But Naaman was furious and went away, and he said,“ Behold, I thought,‘ He will certainly come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the site and cure the leprosy.’

But Naaman got angry and left, saying,“ I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and will wave his hand over the spot and cure the skin disease.

But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

Naaman went away angry. He said,“ Look, I thought for sure he would come out, stand there, invoke the name of the LORD his God, wave his hand over the area, and cure the skin disease.

But Naaman was angry, and went away, and said,“ Behold, I thought,‘ He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.’

Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Have respect for the Lord and avoid evil.

The commander replied,“ Lord, I am not good enough to have you come into my house. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

All those who lift themselves up will be made humble. And those who make themselves humble will be lifted up.”

Don’t fool yourselves. Suppose some of you think you are wise by the standards of the world. Then you should become“ fools” so that you can become wise.The wisdom of this world is foolish in God’s eyes. It is written,“ God catches wise people in their own evil plans.”( Job 5:13)It is also written,“ The Lord knows that the thoughts of wise people don’t amount to anything.”( Psalm 94:11)

Jesus told him,“ You people will never believe unless you see signs and wonders.”

God wisely planned that the world would not know him through its own wisdom. It pleased God to use the foolish things we preach to save those who believe.Jews require signs. Greeks look for wisdom.But we preach about Christ and his death on the cross. That is very hard for Jews to accept. And everyone else thinks it’s foolish.But there are those God has chosen, both Jews and Greeks. To them Christ is God’s power and God’s wisdom.The foolish things of God are wiser than human wisdom. The weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

From this time on, many of his disciples turned back. They no longer followed him.“ You don’t want to leave also, do you?” Jesus asked the 12 disciples.Simon Peter answered him,“ Lord, who can we go to? You have the words of eternal life.We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

What I’m about to tell you is true. Anyone who accepts someone I send accepts me. And anyone who accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”

When the young man heard this, he went away sad. He was very rich.

“ My thoughts are not like your thoughts. And your ways are not like my ways,” announces the Lord.“ The heavens are higher than the earth. And my ways are higher than your ways. My thoughts are higher than your thoughts.

“ The wrong path that childish people take will kill them. Foolish people will be destroyed by being satisfied with the way they live.

“ Yes it is, Lord,” she said.“ Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their owner’s table.”

Where there is arguing, there is pride. But those who take advice are wise.

The person without the Spirit doesn’t accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. These things are foolish to them. They can’t understand them. In fact, such things can’t be understood without the Spirit’s help.The person who has the Spirit can judge all things. But no human being can judge those who have the Spirit. It is written,“ Who can ever know what is in the Lord’s mind? Can anyone ever teach him?”( Isaiah 40:13) But we have the mind of Christ.

Be sure that you don’t say no to the one who speaks. People did not escape when they said no to the one who warned them on earth. And what if we turn away from the one who warns us from heaven? How much less will we escape!
