其实你们自己知道应该怎样效法我们，因为我们在你们那里的时候并没有懒散，也没有白吃过谁的饭。相反，我们辛苦劳碌、日夜做工，免得成为你们任何人的负担。这并不是因为我们没有这权利，而是要亲自给你们做榜样，好让你们效法我们。事实上，我们还在你们那里的时候，一直吩咐你们这一点：如果有人不肯做工，就不应当吃饭。因为我们听说你们中间有些人生活懒散，什么工都不做，却好管闲事。我们在主耶稣基督里吩咐并劝勉这样的人：要安静做工，吃自己的饭。

弟兄们，你们记得我们的辛苦和劳碌：我们把神的福音传给你们的时候，我们日夜做工，免得成为你们任何人的负担。你们和神可以见证：我们对你们这些信的人是多么圣洁、公义、无可指责的。

最后，弟兄们，凡是真实的、庄重的、公义的、纯洁的、可羡慕的、高尚的，如果有什么美德，如果有什么可称赞的，这些事你们就当思想；

好使你们在外人面前能够行事端正，不会有什么缺乏。

不要对任何人以恶报恶；要敬重所有的人看为美善的事；

恶人只借不还；义人却恩待人、给予人。
