“ Here is a boy who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what good are these for so many people?”

They all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces left over, twelve baskets full.

Go and see.” When they found out, they said,“ Five– and two fish.”Then he directed them all to sit down in groups on the green grass.

His disciples answered him,“ Where can someone get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”

But he replied,“ They don’t need to go. You give them something to eat.”They said to him,“ We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed the bread to those who were seated. He then did the same with the fish, as much as they wanted.When they were all satisfied, Jesus said to his disciples,“ Gather up the broken pieces that are left over, so that nothing is wasted.”So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves left over by the people who had eaten.

When Jesus learned of this, he said,“ You who have such little faith! Why are you arguing among yourselves about having no bread?Do you still not understand? The disciples said to him,“ Where can we get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy so great a crowd?”Jesus said to them,“ How many loaves do you have?” They replied,“ Seven– and a few small fish.”
