Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him,“ The boy has not awakened.”

Gehazi went on ahead. He laid Elisha’s walking stick on the boy’s face. But there wasn’t any sound. The boy didn’t move at all. So Gehazi went back to Elisha. He told him,“ The boy hasn’t awakened.”

He said these things, and after that, he said to them,“ Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep.”

When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice,“ Lazarus, come out!”He who was dead came out, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them,“ Free him, and let him go.”

Saul asked counsel of God,“ Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But he didn’t answer him that day.

They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying,“ Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

Therefore he says,“ Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

When he had entered in, he said to them,“ Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep.”

He answered him,“ Unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me.”They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth.He asked his father,“ How long has it been since this has come to him?” He said,“ From childhood.Often it has cast him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.”Jesus said to him,“ If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears,“ I believe. Help my unbelief!”When Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him,“ You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again!”After crying out and convulsing him greatly, it came out of him. The boy became like one dead, so much that most of them said,“ He is dead.”But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately,“ Why couldn’t we cast it out?”He said to them,“ This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting.”

When Saul inquired of Yahweh, Yahweh didn’t answer him by dreams, by Urim, or by prophets.

But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying,“ We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.The evil spirit answered,“ Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”The man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

“ Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face. Should I be inquired of at all by them?

So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.”Jesus answered,“ Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me.”Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said,“ Why weren’t we able to cast it out?”He said to them,“ Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain,‘ Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

so man lies down and doesn’t rise. Until the heavens are no more, they will not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep.

When midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the evening offering; but there was no voice, no answer, and nobody paid attention.
