Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him,“ The boy has not awakened.”

Gehazi went on ahead. He laid Elisha’s walking stick on the boy’s face. But there wasn’t any sound. The boy didn’t move at all. So Gehazi went back to Elisha. He told him,“ The boy hasn’t awakened.”

Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the face of the child, but there was no sound or sign of life. Therefore he returned to meet him and told him,“ The child has not awakened.”

耶穌說完了這些話，跟著又對他們說：“我們的朋友拉撒路睡了，我要去喚醒他。”

說了這話，就大聲呼喊：“拉撒路，出來！”那死了的人就出來，他的手腳都纏著布，臉上裹著巾。耶穌說：“解開他，讓他走！”

掃羅求問神：“我可以下去追趕非利士人嗎？你把他們交在以色列人的手裡嗎？”那天神沒有回答他。

他們把人給他們的公牛牽了來，預備好了，就從早晨直到中午，呼求巴力的名，說：“巴力啊，應允我們吧！”可是沒有聲音，也沒有回應。他們就在所築的祭壇周圍跳舞。

因為一切顯露出來的就是光，所以有話說：“睡了的人哪，醒過來，從死人中起來吧！基督必要照亮你。”

就走進去，對眾人說：“為甚麼大哭大嚷呢？孩子不是死了，是睡著了。”

耶穌回答他們：“唉！不信的世代啊！我跟你們在一起到幾時呢？我要忍受你們到幾時呢？把他帶到我這裡來吧。”他們就把孩子帶到他跟前。那鬼一見耶穌，就立刻使孩子抽了一陣瘋，倒在地上，流著唾沫打滾。耶穌問他父親：“這事臨到他有多久了？”他說：“從小就是這樣。鬼常常把他扔在火裡水中，要毀滅他。如果你能作甚麼，求你可憐我們，幫助我們。”耶穌對他說：“‘如果你能’（“如果你能”有些抄本作“你若能信”）—對於信的人，甚麼都能！”孩子的父親立刻喊著說：“我信！但我的信心不夠，求你幫助我。”耶穌看見群眾圍攏了來，就斥責那污鬼說：“聾啞的鬼，我吩咐你從他身上出來，不要再進去。”那鬼大聲喊叫，使孩子重重地抽了一陣瘋，就出來了。孩子好像死了一樣，所以許多人都說：“他死了！”但耶穌拉著他的手，扶他起來，他就站起來了。耶穌進了屋子，門徒私下問他說：“為甚麼我們不能把那污鬼趕出去呢？”耶穌對他們說：“這一類的鬼，非用禱告是趕不出去的。”

掃羅求問耶和華，耶和華卻沒有藉著夢，或烏陵，或先知回答他。

那時，有幾個趕鬼的猶太人，周遊各處，擅自用主耶穌的名，向身上有邪靈的人說：“我奉保羅所傳的耶穌的名，命令你們出來。”有一個猶太人士基瓦，是祭司長，他的七個兒子都作這事。邪靈回答他們：“耶穌我認識，保羅我也知道；你們是誰？”邪靈所附的那人就撲到他們身上，制伏了兩人，勝過了他們，使他們赤著身帶著傷，從那房子逃了出來。所有住在以弗所的猶太人和希臘人，都知道這件事；大家都懼怕，尊主耶穌的名為大。

“人子啊！這些人已經把他們的偶像接到心裡去，把那陷他們在罪孽中的絆腳石放在自己面前，我怎能讓他們向我求問呢？

我帶他去見你的門徒，他們卻不能醫好他。”耶穌說：“唉！這又不信又乖謬的世代啊！我要跟你們在一起到幾時呢？我要忍受你們到幾時呢？把孩子帶到我這裡來吧。”耶穌斥責那鬼，鬼就從孩子身上出來；從那時起，孩子就好了。門徒悄悄地前來問耶穌：“為甚麼我們不能把鬼趕出去呢？”他說：“因為你們的信心太小了。我實在告訴你們，只要你們的信心像一粒芥菜種，就是對這山說：‘從這裡移到那裡’，它也必移開。沒有甚麼是你們不能作的。”﹙有些抄本有第

必有許多睡在塵土中的人醒過來，有的要得永生，有的要受羞辱，永遠被憎惡。

人也是這樣一躺下去，就不再起來，直到天都沒有了還不醒過來，也不能從睡眠中被喚醒。

中午過後，他們繼續狂呼亂叫，直到獻晚祭的時候；可是仍沒有聲音，沒有回應，也沒有理睬他們的。
