Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him,“ The boy has not awakened.”

Gehazi went on ahead. He laid Elisha’s walking stick on the boy’s face. But there wasn’t any sound. The boy didn’t move at all. So Gehazi went back to Elisha. He told him,“ The boy hasn’t awakened.”

Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the face of the child, but there was no sound or sign of life. Therefore he returned to meet him and told him,“ The child has not awakened.”

Gehazi hurried on ahead and laid the staff on the child’s face, but nothing happened. There was no sign of life. He returned to meet Elisha and told him,“ The child is still dead.”

接著耶穌又說：「我們的朋友拉撒路已經睡了，我去叫醒他。」

說完，就大聲呼喊：「拉撒路，出來！」那死者就出來了，手腳都纏著布條，臉上也包著布。耶穌對他們說：「給他解開，讓他走！」

於是，掃羅求問上帝，說：「耶和華啊，我們可以去追殺非利士人嗎？你會把他們交在以色列人手裡嗎？」但耶和華那日沒有回答他。

他們取了公牛預備好，然後從早上到正午不斷地呼求：「巴力啊，求你應允我們！」可是毫無動靜。他們又繞著自己築的祭壇跳個不停。

因為光能使一切顯明出來。因此有人說：「沉睡的人啊，醒來吧！從死人中起來吧，基督要光照你了！」

耶穌進去問道：「你們為什麼大哭大嚷呢？這孩子並沒有死，只是睡著了。」

耶穌說：「唉，這不信的世代啊！我要跟你們在一起待多久，容忍你們多久呢？把他帶到我這裡吧。」他們把那孩子帶到耶穌面前。那鬼一見耶穌，就使孩子抽搐，倒在地上打滾，口吐白沫。耶穌問孩子的父親：「他這樣子多久了？」孩子的父親回答道：「他從小就這樣，鬼常常將他扔進火裡或水裡，要害他的命。如果你能，求你憐憫我們，幫助我們吧！」耶穌說：「如果你能？對於相信的人，凡事都有可能！」孩子的父親立刻喊著說：「我信！但我信心不足，求你幫助我！」耶穌看見人群都跑了過來，就斥責那污鬼：「你這個聾啞鬼，我命令你從他身上出來，不許再進去！」那鬼發出喊叫，使孩子劇烈地抽搐了一陣，就出來了。孩子躺在地上一動也不動，大家都以為他死了。但耶穌拉著他的手扶他起來，他就站了起來。耶穌進屋後，門徒悄悄問祂：「我們為什麼趕不走那鬼呢？」耶穌說：「要趕走這類鬼只有靠禱告。」

就求問耶和華，但耶和華沒有藉著夢、烏陵或先知回答他。

那時，有幾個走江湖的猶太術士也想用耶穌的名趕鬼，他們向那些被邪靈附身的人說：「我奉保羅所傳講的耶穌之名，命令你們出來！」做這事的有猶太祭司長士基瓦的七個兒子。邪靈回答說：「耶穌，我認識；保羅，我也知道。但你們是誰？」被邪靈附身的人隨即撲向他們，攻擊他們，制伏了他們，使他們赤著身子帶著傷從屋裡逃走了。全以弗所的猶太人和希臘人知道了這件事，都驚懼不已。主耶穌的名因此大受尊崇。

「人子啊，這些人在心裡立起偶像，把導致犯罪的絆腳石放在自己面前，我豈能讓他們來求問？

我帶他去見你的門徒，但他們卻不能治好他。」耶穌說：「唉！這世代又不信又敗壞的人啊，我要跟你們在一起待多久？我要容忍你們多久呢？把他帶來吧。」耶穌斥責附在孩子身上的鬼，鬼就離開了那孩子，從此他就好了。事後，門徒私下問耶穌：「我們為什麼趕不走那鬼呢？」耶穌說：「你們的信心太小了。我實在告訴你們，你們若有像芥菜種那樣大的信心，就算叫這座山從這裡移到那裡，它也會移開，你們將沒有辦不到的事。

許多長眠地下的人必醒過來，有些得到永生，有些蒙受羞辱，永遠被憎惡。

人躺下便不再起來，到諸天不復存在，他仍不會醒來，不會從長眠中被喚醒。

他們不斷地狂呼亂叫，直到獻晚祭的時候，仍然毫無動靜，沒有半點反應。
