以利沙謂其僕曰、告之云、爾既為我思慮周密、我當為爾何為、爾於王、或軍長、有所求乎、婦曰、我居於我民中、安甚、

以利沙告從者曰、爾當告婦曰、爾既為我慮之周密、我當為爾何為、或請於王、或請於軍長。婦曰、我居於民間、無不自得。

以利沙命僕曰、爾告之云、爾既為我思慮周密若此、我當為爾何為、爾於王或軍長有何所求乎、婦曰、我在我民中安居焉、

Elisha said to him,“ Tell her,‘ You have gone to all this trouble for us. Now what can be done for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or the commander of the army?’” She replied,“ I have a home among my own people.”

He said to Gehazi,“ Tell her,‘ You have gone to a lot of trouble for us. Now what can we do for you? Can we speak to the king for you? Or can we speak to the commander of the army for you?’ ” She replied,“ I live among my own people. I have everything I need here.”

Elisha said to Gehazi,“ Tell her,‘ We appreciate the kind concern you have shown us. What can we do for you? Can we put in a good word for you to the king or to the commander of the army?’”“ No,” she replied,“ my family takes good care of me.”

Then he said to Gehazi,“ Say to her,‘ Look, you’ve gone to all this trouble for us. What can we do for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’” She answered,“ I am living among my own people.”

And he said to him,“ Say now to her,‘ Behold, you have taken trouble for us with all this care; what can I do for you? Would you like me to speak for you to the king or to the commander of the army?’ ” But she answered,“ I live among my own people.”

“ Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”

May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains,but when he arrived in Rome he searched for me earnestly and found me—may the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that Day!— and you well know all the service he rendered at Ephesus.

We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

And say to Amasa,‘ Are you not my bone and my flesh? God do so to me and more also, if you are not commander of my army from now on in place of Joab.’”

But godliness with contentment is great gain,for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.

For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.

that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well.

Barzillai was a very aged man, eighty years old. He had provided the king with food while he stayed at Mahanaim, for he was a very wealthy man.And the king said to Barzillai,“ Come over with me, and I will provide for you with me in Jerusalem.”But Barzillai said to the king,“ How many years have I still to live, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?I am this day eighty years old. Can I discern what is pleasant and what is not? Can your servant taste what he eats or what he drinks? Can I still listen to the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?Your servant will go a little way over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?Please let your servant return, that I may die in my own city near the grave of my father and my mother. But here is your servant Chimham. Let him go over with my lord the king, and do for him whatever seems good to you.”And the king answered,“ Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do for him whatever seems good to you, and all that you desire of me I will do for you.”

But now bring me a musician.” And when the musician played, the hand of the Lord came upon him.And he said,“ Thus says the Lord,‘ I will make this dry streambed full of pools.’For thus says the Lord,‘ You shall not see wind or rain, but that streambed shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, you, your livestock, and your animals.’This is a light thing in the sight of the Lord. He will also give the Moabites into your hand,

And he said to them,“ Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics.And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart.And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”

In the days when the judges ruled there was a famine in the land, and a man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.The name of the man was Elimelech and the name of his wife Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in Judah. They went into the country of Moab and remained there.But Elimelech, the husband of Naomi, died, and she was left with her two sons.These took Moabite wives; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth. They lived there about ten years,

And at the end of the seven years, when the woman returned from the land of the Philistines, she went to appeal to the king for her house and her land.Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying,“ Tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”And while he was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to life, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life appealed to the king for her house and her land. And Gehazi said,“ My lord, O king, here is the woman, and here is her son whom Elisha restored to life.”And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed an official for her, saying,“ Restore all that was hers, together with all the produce of the fields from the day that she left the land until now.”

The Lord will bring back his bloody deeds on his own head, because, without the knowledge of my father David, he attacked and killed with the sword two men more righteous and better than himself, Abner the son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah.
