Then he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him as king, and offered him as a sacrifice on the city wall. The fury against Israel was great; they withdrew and returned to their own land.

Then the king of Moab took his oldest son. He was the son who would become the next king of Moab. But the king offered his son as a sacrifice on the city wall. That shocked and terrified the men of Israel. So they pulled back and returned to their own land.

Then he took his oldest son who was to reign in his place and offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. And there came great wrath against Israel. And they withdrew from him and returned to their own land.

耶和华岂喜悦千千的公羊，或是万万的油河吗？我岂可为自己的罪过献我的长子吗？为心中的罪恶献我身所生的吗？

你不可向耶和华你的神这样行，因为他们向他们的神行了耶和华所憎嫌所恨恶的一切事，甚至将自己的儿女用火焚烧，献与他们的神。

我从亚扪人那里平平安安回来的时候，无论什么人，先从我家门出来迎接我，就必归你，我也必将他献上为燔祭。”

并且你将给我所生的儿女焚献给他。

耶和华如此说：“摩押三番四次地犯罪，我必不免去她的刑罚；因为她将以东王的骸骨焚烧成灰。

把自己的儿女祭祀鬼魔，流无辜人的血，就是自己儿女的血，把他们祭祀迦南的偶像，那地就被血污秽了。

扫罗说：“我们不如夜里下去追赶非利士人，抢掠他们，直到天亮，不留他们一人。”众民说：“你看怎样好就去行吧！”祭司说：“我们先当亲近神。”扫罗求问神说：“我下去追赶非利士人可以不可以？你将他们交在以色列人手里不交？”这日神没有回答他。扫罗说：“你们百姓中的长老都上这里来，查明今日是谁犯了罪。我指着救以色列永生的耶和华起誓，就是我儿子约拿单犯了罪，他也必死。”但百姓中无一人回答他。扫罗就对以色列众人说：“你们站在一边，我与我儿子约拿单也站在一边。”百姓对扫罗说：“你看怎样好就去行吧！”扫罗祷告耶和华以色列的神说：“求你指示实情。”于是掣签掣出扫罗和约拿单来；百姓尽都无事。扫罗说：“你们再掣签，看是我，是我儿子约拿单”，就掣出约拿单来。扫罗对约拿单说：“你告诉我，你做了什么事？”约拿单说：“我实在以手里的杖，用杖头蘸了一点蜜尝了一尝。这样我就死吗？”扫罗说：“约拿单哪，你定要死！若不然，愿神重重地降罚与我。”百姓对扫罗说：“约拿单在以色列人中这样大行拯救，岂可使他死呢？断乎不可！我们指着永生的耶和华起誓，连他的一根头发也不可落地，因为他今日与神一同做事。”于是百姓救约拿单免了死亡。扫罗回去，不追赶非利士人；非利士人也回本地去了。

于是以色列王闷闷不乐地回到撒玛利亚，进了他的宫。

神说：“你带着你的儿子，就是你独生的儿子，你所爱的以撒，往摩利亚地去，在我所要指示你的山上，把他献为燔祭。”

两月已满，她回到父亲那里，父亲就照所许的愿向她行了。女儿终身没有亲近男子。

有一个先知来见以色列王亚哈，说：“耶和华如此说：‘这一大群人你看见了吗？今日我必将他们交在你手里，你就知道我是耶和华。’”

亚伯拉罕举目观看，不料，有一只公羊，两角扣在稠密的小树中，亚伯拉罕就取了那只公羊来，献为燔祭，代替他的儿子。

有神人来见以色列王，说：“耶和华如此说：‘亚兰人既说我耶和华是山神，不是平原的神，所以我必将这一大群人都交在你手中，你们就知道我是耶和华。’”
