So now I wail for Moab; yes, I will mourn for Moab. My heart is broken for the men of Kir hareseth.

My heart’s cry for Moab is like a lament on a harp. I am filled with anguish for Kir hareseth.

This message came to me concerning Moab: In one night the town of Ar will be leveled, and the city of Kir will be destroyed.

The battle went on all day before Abimelech finally captured the city. He killed the people, leveled the city, and scattered salt all over the ground.
