你們要擊破一切有堡壘的城、一切上好的城；你們要砍伐各種好樹，要塞住一切水泉，要用石頭蹧蹋一切美好的地段。』

因此我要為摩押而號哭，為全摩押而哀呼，為吉珥哈列設人而歎氣。

因此我的臟腑為了摩押而哀鳴如琴；我的內臟為了吉珥哈列設而悲號如簫。

於是有許多人集合了起來，塞住一切的泉源和通流於地中的溪河，說：『為甚麼要讓亞述諸王來、得到這許多水呢？』

當他父親亞伯拉罕在世的日子、僕人們所挖的水井、非利士人在亞伯拉罕死後都塞住了；以撒又挖出來，仍照他父親所叫的名字叫那些井。

永恆主說：『你豈沒有聽見從遠古我就制定，在古日我就計畫，到現在我就作成，使有堡壘的城荒廢，變為倒壞的亂堆？而其中的居民手力短缺，驚慌慚愧，像田間的菜蔬，像綠草之青青，如房頂上的草，被熱東風燒焦麼？

『你圍困一座城很多日子、向它作戰、要奪取它，不可揮着斧子砍樹木，把城裏的樹木都摧毁掉；你可以喫樹上的果子，卻不可以砍樹。難道田野的樹木是人、能在你面前入圍困範圍內麼？不過你所知道的樹、不是產食物之樹的、那種你倒可以摧毁而砍掉，用來造木柵，攻擊那對你作戰的城，直到把它攻下。

他又擊敗了摩押人，使他們躺在地上，用繩子量量他們：把量二繩長的殺死，讓量一繩長的活着；摩押人就臣服於大衛，帶着禮物而來。

關於摩押的神託之言。一夜之間既被蹂躪，摩押的亞珥就完啦！一夜之間既被蹂躪，摩押的基珥就完啦！

那一天亞比米勒整天攻打那城，就把城攻取，殺了其中的人民；又把城拆毁，撒上了鹽。
