他犯了尼八的儿子耶罗波安所犯的罪，还当作是小事，又娶了西顿王谒巴力的女儿耶洗别为妻，去事奉巴力，敬拜它，又在撒玛利亚建巴力庙，在庙里为巴力筑坛。亚哈又造亚舍拉，他所做的惹耶和华—以色列的上帝发怒，比他以前所有的以色列王更严重。

耶洗别王后来对他说：“你为什么心里这样生气，不吃饭呢？”他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”耶洗别王后对王说：“你现在是不是治理以色列国呢？只管起来，心里畅畅快快地吃饭，我会把耶斯列人拿伯的葡萄园给你。”于是王后以亚哈的名义写信，盖上王的印，把信送给那些与拿伯同城居住的长老和贵族。她在信上写着说：“你们当宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在百姓的高位上，又叫两个无赖坐在拿伯对面，作证告他说：‘你诅咒了上帝和王。’然后把他拉出去用石头打死。”那些与拿伯同城居住的长老和贵族，照耶洗别送给他们的信去做。正如她送的信上所写，他们宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在百姓的高位上。有两个无赖来，坐在拿伯对面。无赖当着百姓作证告他说：“拿伯诅咒上帝和王了！”众人就把他拉到城外，用石头打他，他就死了。于是他们派人到耶洗别那里，说：“拿伯被石头打死了。”耶洗别听见拿伯被石头打死，就对亚哈说：“你起来，去取得耶斯列人拿伯不肯出价卖给你的葡萄园吧！因为拿伯不在了，他已经死了。”

亚哈对以利亚说：“我的仇敌啊，你找到我了吗？”他说：“我找到你了。因为你出卖自己，行了耶和华眼中看为恶的事。

耶户进去，吃了喝了，说：“你们去处理这被诅咒的妇人，埋了她，因为她是王的女儿。”

这是因为他犯罪，行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，行耶罗波安所行的道，犯他使以色列陷入罪里的那罪。

亚们行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，效法他父亲玛拿西所行的。

你为何没有听从耶和华的话呢？你为何急着扑向掠物，行耶和华眼中看为恶的事呢？”

王说：“我今日若容许沙法的儿子以利沙的头还留在他身上，愿上帝重重惩罚我！”那时，以利沙正坐在家中，有长老与他同坐。王派一个人先去，使者还没有到，以利沙对长老说：“你们看，这凶手之子派人来斩我的头。你们注意，当使者来到，你们就关上门，把他关在门外。在他后头不就是他主人的脚步声吗？”

约兰见耶户就说：“耶户，平安吗？”耶户说：“你母亲耶洗别的淫行邪术这样多，怎么能平安呢？”

并使他的儿子经火，又观星象，行法术，求问招魂的和行巫术的，多行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，惹他发怒。
