約沙法說：『這裏不是有永恆主的神言人、我們可以托他去尋問永恆主的麼？』以色列王的臣僕中有一個人回答說：『這裏有沙法的兒子以利沙、就是曾經倒水在以利亞手上、去服事以利亞的。

约沙法说：“这里不是有一位耶和华的先知吗？我们可以托他求问耶和华。”以色列王的一位臣仆说：“这里有沙法的儿子以利沙，他从前是服事以利亚的（“他从前是服事以利亚的”原文作“他从前倒水在以利亚手上”）。”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” An officer of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Can’t we ask the Lord for advice through him?” An officer of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha is here. He’s the son of Shaphat. Elisha used to serve Elijah.”

And Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” Then one of the king of Israel’s servants answered,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

But King Jehoshaphat of Judah asked,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord with us? If there is, we can ask the Lord what to do through him.” One of King Joram’s officers replied,“ Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to be Elijah’s personal assistant.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the LORD here? Let’s inquire of the LORD through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Let’s inquire of Yahweh through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat said,[ Is there] not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here[ is] Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there no prophet of the LORD here that we might seek the LORD’s direction?” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shapat is here; he used to be Elijah’s servant.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of Yahweh here, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.”

約沙法說：『這裏不是還有永恆主的神言人、我們可以尋問他麼？』

以利沙就離開他而回去，取了一對牛來宰，用套牛的器具去煮，將肉給眾民喫；隨後就起身去跟隨以利亞、做他的助手。

你們稱呼我：「老師啊，主啊！」你們說的不錯；我本來是。那麼我做主做老師的尚且洗你們的腳，你們呢、也應該彼此洗腳啊。

就從席間站起來，脫了外衣，拿手巾束腰；然後倒水在盆裏，洗起門徒的腳來，又用束腰的手巾來擦乾。

因為你們先前沒有這樣作過；永恆主我們的上帝便突擊了我們，因為我們沒有按規矩尋問他。』

在好行為上有聲譽的。這就是說，她若養育過兒女，若接待過旅客，若洗過聖徒的腳，若濟助過遭患難的人，若在各樣善行上緊密追求過。

這樣、掃羅死了、是為了他所犯對永恆主不忠實的罪，為了永恆主的話的緣故、就是他所沒有遵守的；也是因為他去尋問去請示交鬼的，

永恆主的僕人摩西死了以後，永恆主告訴摩西的助手嫩的兒子約書亞說：

以色列眾人、就是眾民、便上去到了伯特利，坐在永恆主面前那裏哭；那一天禁食、直到晚上，又在永恆主面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。當那些日子、上帝的約櫃在那裏；那些日子、亞倫的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈、站在永恆主面前供職；以色列人求問永恆主說：『應該再出去、同我們的族弟兄便雅憫人交戰呢？還是該罷休呢？』永恆主說：『你們只管上去，因為明天我必將他們交在你們手中。』

但提摩太被試驗的品德你們是知道的：知道他為着福音做了僕役，同我在一起、就像孩子同父親一樣。

於是眾民都起來、如同一人，說：『我們各人都不往帳棚去；我們各人都不回家去。現在對基比亞我們要這樣行：我們要憑拈鬮上去攻打它。要按以色列眾族派、每百人中取十人、每千人中取一百人，每萬人中取一千人，去為眾民取糧，使他們到達的時候、可以懲辦便雅憫的基比亞，按照他們在以色列中所行的各樣醜事應受的懲罰。』於是以色列眾人彼此連合、如同一人，大家聚集、要攻擊那城。

以色列人取了他們一些乾糧，並沒有求問永恆主怎樣吩咐。

只是尼八的兒子耶羅波安的罪、耶羅波安使以色列人犯的那罪、約蘭卻緊跟着，總不離開。

以利沙從那裏往迦密山去、又從迦密山那裏回到撒瑪利亞。猶大王約沙法十八年、亞哈的兒子約蘭在撒瑪利亞登極來管理以色列；他作王有十二年。

以色列人就起來，到伯特利去求問上帝，說：『我們中間誰該先上去、同便雅憫人交戰呢？』永恆主說：『猶大應該先上去。』

是的，主永恆主若有所作為，他沒有不將其機密啓示他僕人、眾神言人的。

但你們呢、不是這樣：你們中間較大的、倒要成為較年少的；為領袖的、倒要成為服事人的。誰是較大的？是坐席的呢？還是服事的？豈不是坐席的麼？然而我在你們中間卻是做服事者。

大衛求問上帝說：『我可以上去攻打非利士人麼？你將他們交在我手裏麼？』永恆主對他說：『你可以上去；我一定將他們交在你手裏。』

容我叫人拿點兒水來，你們洗洗腳，就在樹底下靠着、歇息歇息。

我們的標幟我們不見了；不再有神言人了；我們中間也沒有人知道這災禍要到幾時。

大衛又求問上帝，上帝對他說：『你不要一直上去追他們；要繞過他們，從桑樹林對面去攻打他們。

未擺陣之先，以色列人上去，在永恆主面前哭哭啼啼、直到晚上，求問永恆主說：『再去同我們的族弟兄便雅憫人在戰陣上接觸、可以不可以？』永恆主說：『你們可以上去攻打他們。』
