But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the LORD here? Let’s inquire of the LORD through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” An officer of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Can’t we ask the Lord for advice through him?” An officer of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha is here. He’s the son of Shaphat. Elisha used to serve Elijah.”

And Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” Then one of the king of Israel’s servants answered,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

But King Jehoshaphat of Judah asked,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord with us? If there is, we can ask the Lord what to do through him.” One of King Joram’s officers replied,“ Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to be Elijah’s personal assistant.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Let’s inquire of Yahweh through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat said,[ Is there] not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here[ is] Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there no prophet of the LORD here that we might seek the LORD’s direction?” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shapat is here; he used to be Elijah’s servant.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of Yahweh here, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the LORD here anymore? Let’s ask him.”

So he turned back from following him, took the team of oxen, and slaughtered them. With the oxen’s wooden yoke and plow, he cooked the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he left, followed Elijah, and served him.

You call me Teacher and Lord— and you are speaking rightly, since that is what I am.So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

So he got up from supper, laid aside his outer clothing, took a towel, and tied it around himself.Next, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel tied around him.

For the LORD our God burst out in anger against us because you Levites were not with us the first time, for we didn’t inquire of him about the proper procedures.”

and is well known for good works— that is, if she has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the saints’ feet, helped the afflicted, and devoted herself to every good work.

The Israelites asked,“ Should we again fight against our brothers the Benjaminites or should we stop?” The LORD answered,“ Fight, because I will hand them over to you tomorrow.”

But you know his proven character, because he has served with me in the gospel ministry like a son with a father.

Then all the people stood united and said,“ None of us will go to his tent or return to his house.Now this is what we will do to Gibeah: we will attack it. By lotwe will take ten men out of every hundred from all the tribes of Israel, and one hundred out of every thousand, and one thousand out of every ten thousand to get provisions for the troops when they go to Gibeah in Benjamin to punish them for all the outrage they committed in Israel.”So all the men of Israel gathered united against the city.

Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions, but did not seek the LORD’s decision.

Nevertheless, Joram clung to the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit. He did not turn away from them.

From there Elisha went to Mount Carmel, and then he returned to Samaria.Joram son of Ahab became king over Israel in Samaria during the eighteenth year of Judah’s King Jehoshaphat, and he reigned twelve years.

They set out, went to Bethel, and inquired of God. The Israelites asked,“ Who is to go first to fight for us against the Benjaminites?” And the LORD answered,“ Judah will be first.”

Indeed, the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing his counsel to his servants the prophets.

It is not to be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever is greatest among you should become like the youngest, and whoever leads, like the one serving.For who is greater, the one at the table or the one serving? Isn’t it the one at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

so David inquired of God,“ Should I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The LORD replied,“ Attack, and I will hand them over to you.”

Let a little water be brought, that you may wash your feet and rest yourselves under the tree.

There are no signs for us to see. There is no longer a prophet. And none of us knows how long this will last.

So David again inquired of God, and God answered him,“ Do not pursue them directly. Circle around them and attack them opposite the balsam trees.

They went up, wept before the LORD until evening, and inquired of him,“ Should we again attack our brothers the Benjaminites?” And the LORD answered,“ Fight against them.”
