Gedaliah swore an oath to them and their men, assuring them,“ Don’t be afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you.”

基大利誓於諸軍長、及其所率之士卒、謂之曰、毋懼迦勒底臣僕、居斯地而臣服巴比倫王、可得平康、

Gedaliah took an oath to reassure them and their men.“ Do not be afraid of the Babylonian officials,” he said.“ Settle down in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well with you.”

Gedaliah promised to help them and their men. He spoke in a kind way to them. He said,“ Don’t be afraid of the Babylonian officials. Make your homes in the land of Judah. Serve the king of Babylon. Then things will go well with you.”

And Gedaliah swore to them and their men, saying,“ Do not be afraid because of the Chaldean officials. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.”

Gedaliah vowed to them that the Babylonian officials meant them no harm.“ Don’t be afraid of them. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and all will go well for you,” he promised.

And Gedaliah swore to them and their men and said to them,“ Do not be afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans; live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you.”

And Gedaliah took an oath before them and their men, and said to them,“ Do not be afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.”

And Gedaliah sware to them and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not because of the servants of the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

And Gedaliah sware to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.

Gedaliah took an oath so as to give them and their troops some assurance of safety. He said,“ You don’t need to be afraid to submit to the Babylonian officials. Settle down in the land and submit to the king of Babylon. Then things will go well for you.”

Gedaliah swore to them and to their men, and said to them,“ Don’t be afraid because of the servants of the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.”

Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, swore an oath to them and their men, assuring them,“ Don’t be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you.As for me, I am going to live in Mizpah to represent you before the Chaldeans who come to us. As for you, gather wine, summer fruit, and oil, place them in your storage jars, and live in the cities you have captured.”

They led away the men, women, children, king’s daughters, and everyone whom Nebuzaradan, captain of the guards, had allowed to remain with Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan. They also led the prophet Jeremiah and Baruch son of Neriah away.

So the king said to Shimei,“ You will not die.” Then the king gave him his oath.

She replied,“ Please, may the king invoke the LORD your God, so that the avenger of blood will not increase the loss, and they will not eliminate my son!”“ As the LORD lives,” he vowed,“ not a hair of your son will fall to the ground.”

“ Son of man, those who live in the ruins in the land of Israel are saying,‘ Abraham was only one person, yet he received possession of the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as a possession.’Therefore say to them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: You eat meat with blood in it, you look to your idols, and you shed blood. Should you then receive possession of the land?You have relied on your swords, you have committed detestable acts, and each of you has defiled his neighbor’s wife. Should you then receive possession of the land?’“ Tell them this:‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: As surely as I live, those who are in the ruins will fall by the sword, those in the open field I have given to wild animals to be devoured, and those in the strongholds and caves will die by plague.I will make the land a desolate waste, and its proud strength will come to an end. The mountains of Israel will become desolate, with no one passing through.They will know that I am the LORD when I make the land a desolate waste because of all the detestable acts they have committed.’
