So the LORD has this to say about Josiah’s son, King Jehoiakim of Judah: People will not mourn for him, saying,“ This makes me sad, my brother! This makes me sad, my sister!” They will not mourn for him, saying,“ Poor, poor lord! Poor, poor majesty!”He will be left unburied just like a dead donkey. His body will be dragged off and thrown outside the gates of Jerusalem.’”
So the LORD says concerning King Jehoiakim of Judah,“ None of his line will occupy the throne of David. His dead body will be thrown out to be exposed to scorching heat by day and frost by night.
The rest of the events of Jehoiakim’s reign, including the horrible sins he committed and his shortcomings, are recorded in the Scroll of the Kings of Israel and Judah. His son Jehoiachin replaced him as king.
