The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the priests next in rank and the doorkeepers to remove from the temple of the Lord all the articles made for Baal and Asherah and all the starry hosts. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron Valley and took the ashes to Bethel.

Certain things in the Lord’ s temple had been made to honor other gods. They were the god named Baal, the female god named Asherah and all the stars in the sky. The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest to remove those things. The king ordered the priests who were next in rank and the men who guarded the doors to help Hilkiah. Josiah took those things that had been in the Lord’ s temple and burned them outside Jerusalem. He burned them in the fields in the Kidron Valley. And he took the ashes to Bethel.

And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest and the priests of the second order and the keepers of the threshold to bring out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the host of heaven. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron and carried their ashes to Bethel.

Then the king instructed Hilkiah the high priest and the priests of the second rank and the Temple gatekeepers to remove from the Lord’s Temple all the articles that were used to worship Baal, Asherah, and all the powers of the heavens. The king had all these things burned outside Jerusalem on the terraces of the Kidron Valley, and he carried the ashes away to Bethel.

Then the king commanded the high priest Hilkiah and the priests of the second rank and the doorkeepers to bring out of the LORD’s sanctuary all the articles made for Baal, Asherah, and all the stars in the sky. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron and carried their ashes to Bethel.

Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers to bring out of the temple of the Lord all the utensils that had been made for Baal, for Asherah, and for all the heavenly lights; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron Valley, and carried their ashes to Bethel.

He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron and carried their ashes to Bethel.

And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.

The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the high-ranking priests, and the guards to bring out of the LORD’s temple all the items that were used in the worship of Baal, Asherah, and all the stars of the sky. The king burned them outside of Jerusalem in the terraces of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.

The king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the threshold, to bring out of Yahweh’s temple all the vessels that were made for Baal, for the Asherah, and for all the army of the sky, and he burned them outside of Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.

以色列啊！你雖然行淫，猶大卻不可犯罪，不要往吉甲去，不要上到伯．亞文，也不要指著永活的耶和華起誓。

現在你要派人去召集以色列眾人和四百五十個巴力的先知，以及耶洗別供養的四百個亞舍拉的先知，都上迦密山來見我。”

那時，祭司長和民間的長老聚集在大祭司該亞法的官邸，

耶穌說完了這些話，就和門徒出去，過了汲淪溪。在那裡有一個園子，耶穌和門徒進去了。

眾人向前走的時候，遍地的人都放聲大哭；王過了汲淪溪，眾人就都走上通往曠野去的路。

他們把人給他們的公牛牽了來，預備好了，就從早晨直到中午，呼求巴力的名，說：“巴力啊，應允我們吧！”可是沒有聲音，也沒有回應。他們就在所築的祭壇周圍跳舞。

藉此，雅各的罪孽才得赦免；他的罪過得以除掉的條件全都在於此，就是他叫祭壇上所有的石頭都變為破碎的灰石，使亞舍拉和香壇不再豎立。

你們怎可偷盜、兇殺、姦淫、起假誓、向巴力燒香，跟從你們素不認識的別神，

此外，甚至在伯特利的祭壇和那使以色列人陷於罪中的尼八的兒子耶羅波安所做的邱壇，他都拆毀焚燒，壓碎成灰，又把亞舍拉燒了。

他們離棄了耶和華，去事奉巴力和亞斯他錄。

他就把一個牛犢安放在伯特利，一個安放在但。

“你們去伯特利犯罪，在吉甲增加過犯吧！每早獻上你們的祭物，每三日獻上你們的十分之一吧！

亞哈犯了尼八的兒子耶羅波安所犯的罪，還以為是小事。他又娶了西頓王謁巴力的女兒耶洗別作妻子，去服事巴力，敬拜巴力。

但我在以色列人中留下七千人，他們全是未曾向巴力屈過膝的，也未曾與巴力親過嘴的。”

他又把他所做的雕像立在神的殿中，神曾經指著這殿，對大衛和他的兒子所羅門說：“我要在這殿裡，和在我從以色列各支派中揀選的耶路撒冷中，立我的名，直到永遠。

守門的人的班次如下：可拉家族，亞薩的子孫中，有可利的兒子米施利米雅。米施利米雅有幾個兒子：長子是撒迦利雅、次子是耶疊、三子是西巴弟雅、四子是耶提聶、五子是以攔、六子是約哈難、七子是以利約乃。俄別．以東有幾個兒子：長子是示瑪雅、次子是約薩拔、三子是約亞，四子是沙甲、五子是拿坦業、六子是亞米利、七子是以薩迦、八子是毘烏利太；神實在賜福給俄別．以東。他的兒子示瑪雅也生了幾個兒子，都是管治他們的家族的，因為他們都是英勇的戰士。示瑪雅的兒子是俄得尼、利法益、俄備得和以利薩巴。以利薩巴的兄弟以利戶和西瑪迦都是勇士。這些人都是俄別．以東的子孫，他們和他們的兒子、兄弟，都是有能力辦事的人。俄別．以東的子孫，共有六十二人。米施利米雅有兒子和兄弟，都是勇士，共十八人。米拉利的子孫何薩有幾個兒子，長子是申利（申利原不是長子，是他父親立他作長子的）、次子是希勒家、三子是底巴利雅、四子是撒迦利亞。何薩所有的兒子和兄弟共十三人。以上這些都是守門人的班次；無論是首領或是他們的親族，都在耶和華的殿裡按班供職。他們無論大小，都按著他們的家族抽籤，看守各門。抽出守東門的籤的是示利米雅。他的兒子撒迦利亞是個聰明的謀士，他們為他抽出了守北面的籤。俄別．以東守南門；他的兒子守庫房。書聘和何薩守西門，以及在斜路上的沙利基門；守衛的人相對而立。守東門的有六個利未人，守北門的每日有四人，守南門的每日有四人，守庫房的兩人一組。在西面的前廊有四人在大路上，在前廊那裡有兩個人。以上這些人是可拉子孫和米拉利子孫守門的人的班次。

他們丟棄耶和華他們神的一切吩咐，為自己做了兩個牛犢的鑄像，又做亞舍拉，並且敬拜天上的萬象和服事巴力；

“你上去到希勒家大祭司那裡，叫他把獻給耶和華殿的銀子，就是守門的從人民所收集的，結算一下。

以利亞對他們說：“捉住巴力的先知，一個也不要讓他們逃脫。”於是眾人捉住他們。以利亞帶他們下到基順河邊，在那裡殺了他們。

護衛長拿住祭司長西萊雅、副祭司長西番亞和三個守門的；

他在位第八年，還是年幼的時候，就開始尋求他先祖大衛的神。到了第十二年，他就開始潔淨猶大和耶路撒冷，除掉邱壇、亞舍拉、雕像和鑄像。眾人在他面前拆毀了巴力的祭壇，他親自打碎了壇上高高的香壇，又把亞舍拉、雕像和鑄像砍碎成灰，撒在向這些偶像獻過祭的人的墳上。

到了早上，所有的祭司長和民間的長老商議怎樣對付耶穌，好殺掉他。

後來發現以利亞撒的子孫中，比以他瑪的子孫有更多作首領的，就把他們分開班次；以利亞撒子孫中作首領的，按著他們的家族有十六人；以他瑪子孫中作首領的，按著他們的家族有八人。以抽籤的方式平均地把他們分開，因為在以利亞撒的子孫中和以他瑪的子孫中都有人在聖所作領袖，以及在神面前作領袖。作書記的利未人拿坦業的兒子示瑪雅，在君王、領袖、撒督祭司、亞比亞他的兒子亞希米勒，以及眾祭司家族和利未家族的首領面前，把他們的名字記錄下來。在以利亞撒的子孫中，有一家族被選取了；在以他瑪的子孫中，也有一家族被選取了。第一籤抽出來的是耶何雅立，第二籤是耶大雅，第三籤是哈琳，第四籤是梭琳，第五籤是瑪基雅，第六籤是米雅民，第七籤是哈歌斯，第八籤是亞比雅，第九籤是耶書亞，第十籤是示迦尼，第十一籤是以利亞實，第十二籤是雅金，第十三籤是胡巴，第十四籤是耶是比押，第十五籤是璧迦，第十六籤是音麥，第十七籤是希悉，第十八籤是哈闢悉，第十九籤是毘他希雅，第二十籤是以西結，第二十一籤是雅斤，第二十二籤是迦末，第二十三籤是第來雅，第二十四籤是瑪西亞。這就是他們的班次，是照著耶和華以色列的神藉著他們的祖宗亞倫所吩咐的條例，進入耶和華的殿，辦理事務。
