The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the Lord— to follow the Lord and keep his commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book. Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.

The king stood next to his pillar. He agreed to the terms of the covenant in front of the Lord. The king promised to serve the Lord and obey his commands, directions and rules. He promised to obey them with all his heart and with all his soul. So he agreed to the terms of the covenant written down in that book. and she looked, and behold, the king stood by the pillar, as the tradition was, with the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and cried,“ Treason! Treason!”

You shall walk after Yahweh your God, fear him, keep his commandments, and obey his voice. You shall serve him, and cling to him.

All of you stand today in the presence of Yahweh your God: your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,your little ones, your wives, and the foreigners who are in the middle of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water,that you may enter into the covenant of Yahweh your God, and into his oath, which Yahweh your God makes with you today,that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he spoke to you and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.Neither do I make this covenant and this oath with you only,but with those who stand here with us today before Yahweh our God, and also with those who are not here with us today

Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus,

They will inquire concerning Zion with their faces turned toward it, saying,‘ Come, and join yourselves to Yahweh in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.’

Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land that you go over to possess;

These are the words of the covenant which Yahweh commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

and you will swear,‘ As Yahweh lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations will bless themselves in him, and they will glory in him.”

The inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that belonged to the children of Israel, and made all who were found in Israel to serve, even to serve Yahweh their God. All his days they didn’t depart from following Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, all the people, and the king, that they should be Yahweh’s people.

I say,“ Keep the king’s command!” because of the oath to God.

Moses came and told the people all Yahweh’s words, and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said,“ All the words which Yahweh has spoken will we do.”

Now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God require of you, but to fear Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, and to serve Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

Yet for all this, we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, our Levites, and our priests, seal it.”

Yahweh’s law is perfect, restoring the soul. Yahweh’s covenant is sure, making wise the simple.Yahweh’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. Yahweh’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.The fear of Yahweh is clean, enduring forever. Yahweh’s ordinances are true, and righteous altogether.

Now therefore let’s make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and those who are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God. Let it be done according to the law.

The people said to Joshua,“ We will serve Yahweh our God, and we will listen to his voice.”So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

The rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters— everyone who had knowledge, and understanding—joined with their brothers, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of Yahweh our Lord, and his ordinances and his statutes;and that we would not give our daughters to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;and if the peoples of the land bring wares or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy from them on the Sabbath, or on a holy day; and that we would forego the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.Also we made ordinances for ourselves, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;for the show bread, for the continual meal offering, for the continual burnt offering, for the Sabbaths, for the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.We, the priests, the Levites, and the people, cast lots for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, according to our fathers’ houses, at times appointed, year by year, to burn on Yahweh our God’s altar, as it is written in the law;and to bring the first fruits of our ground, and the first fruits of all fruit of all kinds of trees, year by year, to Yahweh’s house;also the firstborn of our sons, and of our livestock, as it is written in the law, and the firstborn of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, to the priests who minister in the house of our God;and that we should bring the first fruits of our dough, our wave offerings, the fruit of all kinds of trees, and the new wine and the oil, to the priests, to the rooms of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground to the Levites; for they, the Levites, take the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.The priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes. The Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes to the house of our God, to the rooms, into the treasure house.For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the wave offering of the grain, of the new wine, and of the oil, to the rooms, where the vessels of the sanctuary are, and the priests who minister, with the gatekeepers and the singers. We will not forsake the house of our God.

Moses called to all Israel, and said to them,“ Hear, Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I speak in your ears today, that you may learn them, and observe to do them.”Yahweh our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.Yahweh didn’t make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive today.

You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.

For finding fault with them, he said,“ Behold, the days come”, says the Lord,“ that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they didn’t continue in my covenant, and I disregarded them,” says the Lord.“ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days,” says the Lord;“ I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people.They will not teach every man his fellow citizen, and every man his brother, saying,‘ Know the Lord,’ for all will know me, from their least to their greatest.For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.”In that he says,“ A new covenant”, he has made the first old. But that which is becoming old and grows aged is near to vanishing away.

These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances which Moses spoke to the children of Israel when they came out of Egypt,

to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.

Then she looked, and, behold, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king. All the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets. The singers also played musical instruments, and led the singing of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and said,“ Treason! treason!”

Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us.

“ Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”Jesus said to him,“‘ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

It shall be, if you shall forget Yahweh your God, and walk after other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you shall surely perish.
