Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord.

And that’s not all. Josiah got rid of those who got messages from people who had died. He got rid of those who talked to the spirits of people who had died. He got rid of the statues of family gods and the statues of other gods. He got rid of everything else the Lord hates that was in Judah and Jerusalem. He did it to carry out what the law required. That law was written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’ s temple.

Moreover, Josiah put away the mediums and the necromancers and the household gods and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods, the idols, and every other kind of detestable practice, both in Jerusalem and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience to the laws written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’s Temple.

In addition, Josiah eradicated the mediums, the spiritists, household idols, images, and all the abhorrent things that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this in order to carry out the words of the law that were written in the book that the priest Hilkiah found in the LORD’s temple.

Moreover Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in Yahweh’s house.

「不可轉向招魂的，也不可求問行巫術的，免得被他們玷污。我是耶和華－你們的上帝。

並使他的兒子經火，又觀星象，行法術，求問招魂的和行巫術的，多行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，惹他發怒。

當時拉班去剪羊毛，拉結偷了他父親家中的神像。

「無論男女，是招魂的或行巫術的，他們必被處死。人要用石頭打死他們，血要歸在他們身上。」

你中間不可有人使兒女經火，也不可有占卜的、觀星象的、行法術的、行邪術的、施符咒的、招魂的、行巫術的和求問死人的。凡做這些事的都是耶和華所憎惡的；因這可憎惡的事，耶和華－你的上帝把他們從你面前趕出去。

他重新建築他父親希西家所毀壞的丘壇，又為巴力築壇，造亞舍拉，效法以色列王亞哈所行的，敬拜天上的萬象，事奉它們。

城外有犬類、行邪術的、淫亂的、殺人的、拜偶像的，以及所有喜愛和行虛謊的人。

惟有查看那完美、使人自由的律法，並且時常遵守的，他不是聽了就忘，而是切實行出來，這樣的人在所行的事上必然蒙福。

米迦這個人有了神堂，又造了以弗得和家中的神像，派他的一個兒子作祭司。

因為以色列人必多日過着無君王，無領袖，無祭祀，無柱像，無以弗得，無家中神像的生活。

他行他父親一切所行的道，事奉他父親所事奉的偶像，敬拜它們，

希勒家大祭司對沙番書記說：「我在耶和華殿裏發現了律法書。」希勒家把書遞給沙番，沙番就讀了。沙番書記到王那裏，把這事回覆王說：「你的僕人已把殿裏所發現的銀子倒出來，交在管理耶和華殿督工的手裏了。」沙番書記又向王報告說：「希勒家祭司遞給我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前朗讀那書。王聽見律法書上的話，就撕裂衣服。王吩咐希勒家祭司與沙番的兒子亞希甘、米該亞的兒子亞革波、沙番書記和王的臣僕亞撒雅，說：「你們去，以所發現這書上的話，為我、為百姓、為全猶大求問耶和華；因為我們祖先沒有聽從這書上的話，沒有遵照一切所寫有關我們的去行，耶和華就向我們大發烈怒。」

埃及人的心神在裏面耗盡，我要破壞他們的計謀。他們必求問偶像和念咒的，求問招魂的與行巫術的人。

那時撒母耳已經死了，以色列眾人為他哀哭，把他葬在他的本城拉瑪。掃羅曾在國內驅除招魂的和行巫術的人。非利士人集合，來到書念安營；掃羅集合以色列眾人在基利波安營。掃羅看見非利士的軍隊，就懼怕，心中大大戰兢。掃羅求問耶和華，耶和華卻不藉夢，或烏陵，或先知回答他。掃羅吩咐臣僕說：「為我找一個招魂的婦人，我好去問她。」臣僕對他說：「看哪，在隱‧多珥有一個招魂的婦人。」

他們把奉到耶和華殿的銀子運出來的時候，希勒家祭司發現了耶和華藉摩西所傳的律法書。希勒家對沙番書記說：「我在耶和華殿裏發現了律法書。」希勒家把書遞給沙番。沙番把書拿到王那裏，又把這事回覆王說：「凡交給僕人的手所辦的事，他們都辦好了。耶和華殿裏所發現的銀子已經倒出來，交在督工和工匠的手裏了。」沙番書記又向王報告說：「希勒家祭司遞給我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前朗讀那書。王聽見律法的話，就撕裂衣服。

「因猶大王瑪拿西行這些可憎的惡事，比先前亞摩利人所行的一切更壞，使猶大人拜偶像，陷入罪裏，

所以，凡血肉之軀沒有一個能因律法的行為而在上帝面前稱義，因為律法本是要人認識罪。

後來，我們往那禱告的地方去時，有一個被占卜的靈附身的使女迎面走來，她使用法術使她的主人們發了大財。她跟隨保羅和我們，喊着說：「這些人是至高上帝的僕人，對你們傳講救人的道路。」她一連好幾天這樣喊叫，保羅就心中厭煩，轉身對那靈說：「我奉耶穌基督的名吩咐你從她身上出來！」那靈立刻出來了。
