Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord.

And that’s not all. Josiah got rid of those who got messages from people who had died. He got rid of those who talked to the spirits of people who had died. He got rid of the statues of family gods and the statues of other gods. He got rid of everything else the Lord hates that was in Judah and Jerusalem. He did it to carry out what the law required. That law was written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’ s temple.

Moreover, Josiah put away the mediums and the necromancers and the household gods and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods, the idols, and every other kind of detestable practice, both in Jerusalem and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience to the laws written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’s Temple.

He did this in order to carry out the words of the law that were written in the book that the priest Hilkiah found in the LORD’s temple.

Moreover Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in Yahweh’s house.

『你們不可偏向那些交鬼的和行巫術的；不可求問他們、以致因他們而蒙不潔；我永恆主是你們的上帝。

在你中間不可有人將兒子或女兒用火燒獻為祭，也不可有占卜的、算命的、觀兆頭的、行邪術的、用迷術的、問交鬼的、行巫術的、過陰的。因為凡行這些事的、都是永恆主所憎惡的；也正是因了這些可厭惡之事的緣故，永恆主你的上帝才把他們從你面前趕出。

去偵探地的那五個人就上去，進去那裏，將雕像、神諭像、家神像、鑄像、都拿了去；祭司和裝有戰器的六百人都站在大門口。那五個人進了米迦的住宅，將雕像、神諭像、家神像、和鑄像都拿了走，祭司就問他們說：『你們作甚麼？』

有人對你們說：『要求問那些交鬼的和行巫術的，就是那啁啾叫嗡嗡鳴的人。一族之民難道不能求問自己的神、而為活人去求問死人麼？』不，人應當以上帝所指教的和神言人所警告的為根據；他們若不按這標準說話，就得不到曙光。

他重新建築了他父親希西家所毁壞的邱壇，又為外國神巴力立了幾座祭壇，又造了一根亞舍拉神木，像以色列王亞哈所行的，並且敬拜事奉了天上的萬象。

外面呢、卻有那些犬類、那些行邪術的、做男倡或嫖妓的、做兇手的、拜偶像的、和一切喜愛虛謊、行虛謊的人。

惟獨詳細察看完全的律法、使人自由的律法，並且恆常遵守着，不是聽了就忘掉，乃是實實在在行出來的；這人在他所行的事上必然有福。

米迦這人有一間神堂；他又製造了神諭像和家神像，給他的一個兒子授與聖職做他的祭司。

因為以色列人也要許多年日過着靜居守己的生活；沒有王、沒有首領、沒有祭祀、沒有聖柱、沒有以弗得、沒有家神像。

他走他父親始終所走的路；事奉他父親所事奉的偶像，而敬拜它們；

大祭司希勒家對祕書沙番說：『我在永恆主殿裏發現了《律法書》。』希勒家將書遞給祕書沙番，沙番就唸它。祕書沙番去見王，向王回話，說：『僕人已將殿裏所有的銀子都倒出來，交在辦事的人、永恆主殿裏監工的人、手裏了。』祕書沙番又告訴王說：『祭司希勒家遞給了我一卷書。』沙番就在王面前唸它。王聽見《律法書》上的話，便撕裂衣服。王就吩咐希勒家祭司、和沙番的兒子亞希甘、米該亞的兒子亞革波、祕書沙番、和王的臣僕亞撒雅，說：『你們去，為我、為人民、為猶大眾人、將所發現這一卷書上的話尋問永恆主；因為我們列祖沒有聽從這書上的話，沒有遵行、照這一切所寫關於我們的事，以致永恆主向我們大發烈怒。』

埃及人心裏都很狼狽徬徨；我必混亂他們的計謀；他們必求問神明和念念有詞的、交鬼的和行巫術的。

那時撒母耳已經死了；以色列眾人為他舉哀，將他埋葬在拉瑪、他本城裏。先是掃羅曾將交鬼的和行巫術的人驅出國土。非利士人集合而來，在書念紮營；掃羅集合以色列眾人，在基利波紮營。掃羅看見非利士人的軍兵，就懼怕，心裏顫抖得很。掃羅求問永恆主，永恆主卻沒有藉着夢，沒有藉着烏陵，也沒有藉着神言人而回答他。掃羅就對臣僕說：『要為我尋找一個有特質能交鬼的女人，我好去見她，去尋問她。』臣僕說：『看哪，在隱多珥有一個有特質能交鬼的女人呢。』

他們將奉到永恆主之殿的銀子運出來的時候、祭司希勒家發現永恆主的律法書、由摩西經手傳下來的。希勒家應時對祕書沙番說：『我在永恆主殿裏發現了律法書』；希勒家就將書遞給沙番。沙番把書帶到王那裏，同時還向王回話說：『凡交在你僕人手中辦理的，他們都在辦理呢。他們已將永恆主殿裏所有的銀子都倒出來，交給監工的人手裏，和作工的人的手裏了。』祕書沙番又告訴王說：『祭司希勒家還遞給我一卷書呢。』沙番就在王面前將內容唸出來。王聽見《律法書》上的話，便撕裂衣服。

『因為猶大王瑪拿西行這些可厭惡的事、比他以前的亞摩利人一切所行的更壞，並且用他的偶像使猶大人犯了罪；

所以血肉人在上帝面前、都不能由律法上的行為得稱為義：因為由於律法、人才認識罪。

後來我們往禱告的地方去，有一個使女有巫覡的靈在身，迎着面而來；她行占卜術、使她主人們得了許多生意。這個女人跟隨着保羅和我們，喊着說：『這些人是至高上帝的僕人，他們把拯救之道路傳布給你們。』她一連許多日子都這樣喊叫。保羅很討厭，就轉身對那鬼靈說：『我奉耶穌基督的名囑咐你從她身上出來。』就在那一刻、鬼靈便出來了。
