Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the Lord.

And that’s not all. Josiah got rid of those who got messages from people who had died. He got rid of those who talked to the spirits of people who had died. He got rid of the statues of family gods and the statues of other gods. He got rid of everything else the Lord hates that was in Judah and Jerusalem. He did it to carry out what the law required. That law was written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’ s temple.

Moreover, Josiah put away the mediums and the necromancers and the household gods and the idols and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the words of the law that were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.

Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods, the idols, and every other kind of detestable practice, both in Jerusalem and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience to the laws written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the Lord’s Temple.

He did this in order to carry out the words of the law that were written in the book that the priest Hilkiah found in the LORD’s temple.

Moreover Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in Yahweh’s house.

“你们不可转向那些交鬼的和行法术的；不可求问他们，玷污自己；我是耶和华你们的神。

从前去窥探那地的五个人上前，进入里面，把雕像、以弗得、神像和铸像都拿去了；祭司和带着兵器的六百人都站在门口。当那五个人进了米迦的家，拿走雕像、以弗得、神像和铸像的时候，祭司就问他们：“你们作什么呢？”

有人对你们说：“要求问那些交鬼的和行巫术的，就是那些喃喃细语的人。”一族之民不应当求问自己的神吗？他们怎能为活人求问死人呢？他们应当求问神的训诲和法度；他们若不照着这些准则说话，就见不到曙光。

他重新建造邱坛，就是他父亲希西家所拆毁的；又为巴力建立祭坛，做亚舍拉，好像以色列王亚哈所做的，并且敬拜事奉天上的万象。

在城外，有那些狗，那些行邪术的、淫乱的、杀人的、拜偶像的，以及所有喜爱说谎的和实行说谎的人。

唯有详细察看那使人自由的全备的律法，并且时常遵守的人，他不是听了就忘记，而是实行出来，就必因自己所作的蒙福。

米迦这人有一间神庙，又制造以弗得和家中的神像，并且立了他的一个儿子作祭司。

因为以色列人也要独居多日；没有君王，没有领袖，没有祭祀，没有柱像，没有以弗得，也没有家中的神像。

他跟随他父亲所行的一切道路，服事他父亲所服事的偶像，敬拜它们。

希勒家大祭司对书记沙番说：“我在耶和华的殿里找到了一卷律法书。”他把书卷交给沙番；沙番就阅读那书卷。书记沙番来见王，向王回报说：“你的臣仆已经把殿里的银子清点，交在耶和华殿里管理工匠的人手中。”书记沙番又告诉王说：“希勒家大祭司交给我一卷书卷。”书记沙番就在王面前诵读那书卷。王听见律法书上的话的时候，就撕裂自己的衣服。王又吩咐希勒家祭司、沙番的儿子亚希甘、米该亚的儿子亚革博、书记沙番和王的臣仆及亚撒雅说：“你们去，为了我、为了人民、为了犹大全国，因着所发现的这书卷上的话求问耶和华，因为耶和华向我们所发的怒气极大；这是因着我们的祖先没有听从这律法书上的话，没有照着所有写给我们的去行。”

埃及人的意志必消沉，我要破坏他们的计谋；他们必求问偶像、念咒的、交鬼的和行巫术的。

那时，撒母耳死了，以色列众人都为他哀哭，把他埋葬在拉玛他自己的城里。扫罗曾经把交鬼的和行巫术的，都从国中除去了。非利士人聚集起来，来到书念安营；扫罗也聚集以色列众人，在基利波安营。扫罗看见了非利士人的军队，就惧怕，他的心大大发抖。扫罗求问耶和华，耶和华却没有藉着梦，或乌陵，或先知回答他。于是扫罗对他的臣仆说：“你们要为我寻找一个能交鬼的女人，我好去求问她。”他的臣仆回答他说：“在隐．多珥有一个能交鬼的女人。”

他们把献给耶和华殿的银子拿出来的时候，希勒家祭司发现了耶和华藉摩西所传的律法书。希勒家对书记沙番说：“我在耶和华的殿里发现了律法书。”希勒家就把书交给沙番。沙番把书带到王那里，同时向王报告：“你交托你仆人的事，他们都办妥了。他们把在耶和华殿里的银子倒出来，交给监督和作工的人。”书记沙番又告诉王，说：“希勒家祭司还交给我一卷书卷。”于是沙番在王面前诵读那书。王一听见律法书上的话，就撕裂自己的衣服，

“因为犹大王玛拿西所作这些可憎恶的事，比在他以前的亚摩利人所行的恶更坏，并且以他的偶像使犹大人犯罪。

没有一个人可以靠行律法，在神面前得称为义，因为藉着律法，人对于罪才有充分的认识。

有一次，我们到祈祷的地方去的时候，一个被巫鬼附着的婢女迎面而来；她行占卜使主人们发了大财。她跟着保罗和我们，喊叫说：“这些人是至高神的仆人，向你们传讲得救的道路。”她一连多日这样喊叫，保罗觉得厌烦，就转身对那鬼说：“我奉耶稣基督的名，命令你从她身上出来！”那鬼就立刻出来了。
