耶戶獻完燔祭出來，便命令衛兵和將領說：「進去殺死他們，不要放走一人。」衛兵和將領進廟揮刀殺了他們，把屍首拋出去後，走入廟的內殿，

把它們祭司的骸骨放在它們的壇上焚燒。這樣，他潔淨了猶大和耶路撒冷。

以利亞對他們說：「抓住巴力的先知，別放走一個人！」眾人就抓住他們，以利亞把他們帶到基順河邊，在那裡殺了他們。

上帝的僕人奉耶和華的命令向祭壇喊道：「祭壇啊，祭壇啊，耶和華說，必有一子在大衛家出生，他名叫約西亞。他要在你上面殺死這些獻祭的祭司，在你上面焚燒人的骨頭。」

祂的刀沾滿了血和脂肪，如同羊羔、公山羊的血和公綿羊腎臟上的脂肪。因為耶和華要在波斯拉獻祭，在以東大行殺戮。

必須處死那些先知或解夢的人，因為他們慫恿你們背叛你們的上帝耶和華、偏離祂吩咐你們當走的道路。你們的上帝耶和華曾帶你們離開埃及，救你們脫離奴役。你們必須清除你們當中的邪惡。

「到那天，我必剷除地上偶像的名號，使它們被人遺忘；我必除去地上的假先知和污穢的靈。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。若有人再說預言，他的親生父母必對他說，『你不得活命，因為你奉耶和華的名說謊。』他說預言的時候，他的親生父母必把他刺死。
