He went up to the temple of the Lord with the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets— all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the Lord.

He went up to the Lord’ s temple. The people of Judah and Jerusalem went with him. So did the priests and prophets. All of them went, from the least important of them to the most important. The king had all the words of the Book of the Covenant read to them. The book had been found in the Lord’ s temple.

And the king went up to the house of the Lord, and with him all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the priests and the prophets, all the people, both small and great. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of the Lord.

大祭司希勒家對祕書沙番說：『我在永恆主殿裏發現了《律法書》。』希勒家將書遞給祕書沙番，沙番就唸它。

摩西吩咐他們說：『每七年底末一年，在豁免年底制定節期、住棚節時候，以色列眾人來到永恆主你的上帝所選擇的地方朝見他，那時你要當着以色列眾人面前將這律法誦讀給他們聽。你要召集人民、男女幼小、和你城內的寄居者，叫他們聽，叫他們學習敬畏永恆主你們的上帝，謹慎遵行「這律法」的一切話，也叫他們那些未曾明曉這律法的兒女得以聽，儘你們在過約但河去取得為業的土地上活着的日子、得以學習敬畏永恆主你們的上帝。』

我看見死了的人、大的小的、都站在寶座前：案卷都展開了。另有一卷是生命冊、也展開了。死了的人、都從這些案卷所記的、照他們所行的受審判。

他們在猶大教訓人，也隨身帶着永恆主的律法書：他們環遊到猶大各城，在民間教訓人。

『你們要將「這律法」書放在永恆主你們的上帝的約櫃旁，好讓它在那裏做見證指責你們的不對。

大小人等都在那裏；奴僕全脫離主人而自由。

那天四分之一他們立在他們所站的地方，誦讀永恆主他們的上帝的律法書；又四分之一他們是認罪，敬拜永恆主他們的上帝。

我得了從上帝來的庇佑，所以站立得穩、直到這一天，不但對卑小的人、也對尊大的人、作見證。所說的不外乎神言人們和摩西所講必須發生的事，

他們又擊打了房門口的人，使他們無論大小都眼目昏眩，以致找到累死也找不着房門。

這些日子滿了，王又為所有在書珊宮堡的眾民、無論尊大卑小、在王宮花園的院子擺設了筵席七天。

擄了其中的婦女和所有的人、無論大小，都沒有殺死一人，只是帶着上路走了。

轉運到了以後，永恆主的手攻擊那城，那城非常紛亂驚慌；又擊打那城的人、無論大小都暴發了鼠疫疱。

那時候我們將摩西書誦讀給人民聽，見書上寫着說：亞捫人或摩押人永不可進上帝的公會；

那時眾民如同一人聚集在水門前的廣場上，請經學士以斯拉將摩西的律法書帶來：那律法是永恆主吩咐以色列人遵守的。七月一日、祭司以斯拉將律法書帶到一切聽了能明白的男女大眾面前。他在水門前的廣場前面、從天亮到中午、在男女和能明白的人面前一直誦讀；眾民都側耳傾聽這律法書。經學士以斯拉站在為這事特製的木臺上；在他身旁有瑪他提雅、示瑪、亞奈雅、烏利亞、希勒家，和瑪西雅、站在他右邊；有毘大雅、米沙利、瑪基雅、哈順、哈拔大拿、撒迦利亞、和米書蘭、站在他左邊。經學士以斯拉在高過眾民以上的地方、當着眾民眼前把書卷展開；他一展開了，眾民就都站起來。以斯拉祝頌了永恆主至大的上帝；眾民都舉手應聲地說：『阿們！阿們！』又俯身，面伏於地、敬拜永恆主。耶書亞、巴尼、示利比、雅憫、亞谷、沙比太、荷第雅、瑪西雅、基利他、亞撒利雅、約撒拔、哈難、毘萊雅，這些利未人幫助人民明白律法；人民始終站着。以斯拉清清楚楚地唸那書卷，誦讀上帝的律法，講明意義，使人民明白所誦讀的。

凡不尋求永恆主以色列之上帝的、無論大小男女、都必被處死。

敬畏永恆主的、無論大小、永恆主都要賜福。

約櫃裏只有兩塊石版，就是以色列人出埃及地以後、永恆主同他們立約的時候、摩西在何烈山所安放在那裏的：除此以外、並無別物。
