Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.

Then Shaphan the secretary told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.

Shaphan also told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll.” So Shaphan read it to the king.

Then the court secretary Shaphan told the king,“ The priest Hilkiah has given me a book,” and Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

Moreover, Shaphan the scribe informed the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

Then Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.

Then Shaphan the court secretary told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book,” and Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

王就派猶底去把卷軸取來，猶底便從書記以利沙瑪的房間取來卷軸，讀給王和侍立在王周圍的官長聽。

耶和華讓我對君王和太后說：「從寶座上下來吧，因為你們頭上華美的王冠將要掉落。」

耶和華對我說：「你下到猶大王的宮殿，這樣宣告，『坐在大衛寶座上的猶大王啊，你和你的臣僕以及進出這城門的百姓都要聽耶和華的話。

沙番書記又對王說：「希勒迦祭司交給我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前誦讀這書。

那天，有人給民眾宣讀摩西律法書時，發現書上說亞捫人和摩押人永不可加入上帝的會眾。

他們請他坐下，把卷軸讀給他們聽。巴錄就讀給他們聽。

摩西把這律法寫好，交給抬耶和華約櫃的利未祭司和以色列的眾長老。摩西吩咐他們說：「每逢免除債務的第七年的住棚節，所有以色列人到你們的上帝耶和華選定的地方朝見祂時，你們要當眾大聲宣讀這律法。要招聚所有男女、孩童以及住在你們中間的外族人，讓他們聆聽這律法，學習敬畏你們的上帝耶和華，謹遵律法上的一切話。這樣，他們那些還不知道這律法的孩子便有機會聽到律法，在你們將要佔領的約旦河對岸的土地上，學習終生敬畏你們的上帝耶和華。」

當時，他們發現耶和華藉摩西吩咐的律法上記載，以色列人要在七月節期期間住在棚子裡，並且要在他們的各城邑和耶路撒冷宣佈：「你們要上山取橄欖樹、野橄欖樹、番石榴樹、棕櫚樹和其他茂密樹木的枝子，照著所規定的搭棚。」

他登基後，要在利未祭司面前為自己抄錄一份律法書，把它放在身邊，一生誦讀，以便學習敬畏他的上帝耶和華，遵守律法書上的一切誡命和律例。這樣，他就不會妄自尊大，違背誡命，他和他的子孫就可以長久統治以色列。

全體民眾萬眾一心，聚集在水門前的廣場上。他們請律法教師以斯拉帶來耶和華藉摩西頒給以色列人的律法書。七月一日，以斯拉祭司把律法書帶到能聽懂的男女會眾面前，面向水門前的廣場，從清早到正午一直向他們宣讀律法書，人們都側耳傾聽。律法教師以斯拉站在為這聚會預備的木臺上，站在他右邊的是瑪他提雅、示瑪、亞奈雅、烏利亞、希勒迦和瑪西雅；站在他左邊的是毗大雅、米沙利、瑪基雅、哈順、哈拔大拿、撒迦利亞和米書蘭。以斯拉站在高處，他在全體會眾面前一打開書卷，他們都站了起來。以斯拉稱頌偉大的上帝耶和華，全體民眾都舉手應聲說：「阿們！阿們！」他們又面伏於地，俯伏敬拜耶和華。耶書亞、巴尼、示利比、雅憫、亞谷、沙比太、荷第雅、瑪西雅、基利他、亞撒利雅、約撒拔、哈難、毗萊雅和利未人幫助民眾明白律法，當時民眾都站在自己的地方。

所以你要在禁食的日子，在耶和華的殿中向猶大各城來的人宣讀卷軸上耶和華的話。

從第一天到最後一天，以斯拉每天都誦讀上帝的律法書。他們守節期七天，第八天根據典章舉行莊嚴的聚會。
