书记沙番又对王说：“祭司希勒家递给我一卷书。”沙番就在王面前读那书。

Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.

Shaphan continued,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” Shaphan read some of it to the king.

Then Shaphan the secretary told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.

Shaphan also told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll.” So Shaphan read it to the king.

Then the court secretary Shaphan told the king,“ The priest Hilkiah has given me a book,” and Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

Moreover, Shaphan the scribe informed the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

Then Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.

And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

Then Shaphan the court secretary told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book,” and Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.

And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

Then Shaphan the scribe told the king,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a scroll.” Shaphan read it out loud before the king.

Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.

王就派犹底去把卷轴取来，犹底便从书记以利沙玛的房间取来卷轴，读给王和侍立在王周围的官长听。

耶和华让我对君王和太后说：“从宝座上下来吧，因为你们头上华美的王冠将要掉落。”

耶和华对我说：“你下到犹大王的宫殿，这样宣告，‘坐在大卫宝座上的犹大王啊，你和你的臣仆以及进出这城门的百姓都要听耶和华的话。

沙番书记又对王说：“希勒迦祭司交给我一卷书。”沙番就在王面前诵读这书。

那天，有人给民众宣读摩西律法书时，发现书上说亚扪人和摩押人永不可加入上帝的会众。

他们请他坐下，把卷轴读给他们听。巴录就读给他们听。

摩西把这律法写好，交给抬耶和华约柜的利未祭司和以色列的众长老。摩西吩咐他们说：“每逢免除债务的第七年的住棚节，所有以色列人到你们的上帝耶和华选定的地方朝见祂时，你们要当众大声宣读这律法。要招聚所有男女、孩童以及住在你们中间的外族人，让他们聆听这律法，学习敬畏你们的上帝耶和华，谨遵律法上的一切话。这样，他们那些还不知道这律法的孩子便有机会听到律法，在你们将要占领的约旦河对岸的土地上，学习终生敬畏你们的上帝耶和华。”

当时，他们发现耶和华借摩西吩咐的律法上记载，以色列人要在七月节期期间住在棚子里，并且要在他们的各城邑和耶路撒冷宣布：“你们要上山取橄榄树、野橄榄树、番石榴树、棕榈树和其他茂密树木的枝子，照着所规定的搭棚。”

他登基后，要在利未祭司面前为自己抄录一份律法书，把它放在身边，一生诵读，以便学习敬畏他的上帝耶和华，遵守律法书上的一切诫命和律例。这样，他就不会妄自尊大，违背诫命，他和他的子孙就可以长久统治以色列。

全体民众万众一心，聚集在水门前的广场上。他们请律法教师以斯拉带来耶和华借摩西颁给以色列人的律法书。七月一日，以斯拉祭司把律法书带到能听懂的男女会众面前，面向水门前的广场，从清早到正午一直向他们宣读律法书，人们都侧耳倾听。律法教师以斯拉站在为这聚会预备的木台上，站在他右边的是玛他提雅、示玛、亚奈雅、乌利亚、希勒迦和玛西雅；站在他左边的是毗大雅、米沙利、玛基雅、哈顺、哈拔大拿、撒迦利亚和米书兰。以斯拉站在高处，他在全体会众面前一打开书卷，他们都站了起来。以斯拉称颂伟大的上帝耶和华，全体民众都举手应声说：“阿们！阿们！”他们又面伏于地，俯伏敬拜耶和华。耶书亚、巴尼、示利比、雅悯、亚谷、沙比太、荷第雅、玛西雅、基利他、亚撒利雅、约撒拔、哈难、毗莱雅和利未人帮助民众明白律法，当时民众都站在自己的地方。

所以你要在禁食的日子，在耶和华的殿中向犹大各城来的人宣读卷轴上耶和华的话。

从第一天到最后一天，以斯拉每天都诵读上帝的律法书。他们守节期七天，第八天根据典章举行庄严的聚会。
