He built altars in the Lord’ s temple. The Lord had said about his temple,“ I will put my Name there in Jerusalem.”

And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said,“ In Jerusalem will I put my name.”

He built pagan altars in the Temple of the Lord, the place where the Lord had said,“ My name will remain in Jerusalem forever.”

He built altars in the LORD’s temple, where the LORD had said,“ Jerusalem is where I will put my name.”

And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said,“ In Jerusalem I will put My name.”

He also built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said,“ In Jerusalem I will put My name.”

He built altars in the Lord’s temple, where the Lord had said,“ Jerusalem is where I will put My name.”

May your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, this place of which you said,‘ My Name shall be there,’ so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place.

He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

They set up their vile images in the house that bears my Name and defiled it.

Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. He saw an altar in Damascus and sent to Uriah the priest a sketch of the altar, with detailed plans for its construction.So Uriah the priest built an altar in accordance with all the plans that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus and finished it before King Ahaz returned.When the king came back from Damascus and saw the altar, he approached it and presented offerings on it.He offered up his burnt offering and grain offering, poured out his drink offering, and splashed the blood of his fellowship offerings against the altar.As for the bronze altar that stood before the Lord, he brought it from the front of the temple— from between the new altar and the temple of the Lord— and put it on the north side of the new altar.King Ahaz then gave these orders to Uriah the priest:“ On the large new altar, offer the morning burnt offering and the evening grain offering, the king’s burnt offering and his grain offering, and the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their grain offering and their drink offering. Splash against this altar the blood of all the burnt offerings and sacrifices. But I will use the bronze altar for seeking guidance.”And Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz had ordered.

The Lord said to him:“ I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.

But you are to seek the place the Lord your God will choose from among all your tribes to put his Name there for his dwelling. To that place you must go;

but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved.He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth that he established forever.

“‘ Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.

For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,“ This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.
