廢諸崇坵、毀其像、斫其偶、昔摩西所作之銅蛇、迄今以色列人焚香以奉事。希西家曰、此無非為尼忽旦耳、遂碎之。

棄其上帝耶和華之命、鑄二金犢、樹立木偶、崇拜天象、奉事巴力、

服事崇拜他上帝、或日月、或天象、為我所禁者。

從尼八子耶羅破暗所行、猶為細事、乃娶西頓王、謁巴力女、耶洗別為后、遂服事崇拜巴力、在撒馬利亞邑、建巴力殿、內築祭壇、以奉事之、亦作偶像、較以色列前王更甚、干以色列族之上帝耶和華震怒。

爾仰觀天象、有日月星辰焉、恐爾迷眩、奉事崇拜之、天下億兆既行此、爾之上帝耶和華亦姑聽之、

厥父希西家曾毀崇坵、馬拿西築之、且築祭壇、立偶像、服事巴力、崇拜天象、昔耶和華曰、耶路撒冷必為籲我名之所、永世勿替、而馬拿西在耶和華殿之二院築壇、奉事天象。

我見日月輝光、

耶戶集民眾、告曰、亞哈服事巴力、尚未勤也、耶戶將事之尤勤。今我必獻大祭、奉事巴力、故當集巴力諸先知、祭司、僕役、不遺一人、有不至者殺毋赦。耶戶言此、蓋欺人也、欲滅崇拜巴力之人耳。耶戶曰、當告於民、必有大會、奉事巴力。遂告焉。

王命祭司長希勒家、及祭司之次者、暨閽人、取所奉巴力亞大綠及天象之器皿、出耶和華殿、燬於耶路撒冷外、汲淪田間、攜其灰至伯特利。昔猶大列王、立祭司、在猶大諸邑、及耶路撒冷四周、崇坵之上、焚香奉巴力、日月、十二躔次、及諸天象、至是約西亞廢其職、

暗利王之法度、爾乃恪守焉、亞哈家之愆尤、爾反則傚、與之同謀焉、故我必使爾邑荒蕪、人作怨恨之聲、昔爾為我民、後必為眾戮辱焉。

於是取所予之犢備之、自朝至於日中、籲巴力曰、巴力乎、尚其聽我。巴力杳無聲響、不能應對、其先知踊於所築之壇。

行惡於耶和華前、從以色列國列王所為。亦娶亞哈之公主、而效尤焉。

以利亞至民前曰、爾曹執持兩端、躊躇未決、將伊於何底乎。如以耶和華為上帝、則從耶和華、如以巴力為上帝、則從巴力。斯民無言以對。

既與亞哈家為姻婭、則從亞哈所為、行惡於耶和華前、

八年王尚幼沖、崇事其祖大闢之上帝、十二年在猶大國耶路撒冷邑、廢諸崇坵、伐諸林木、毀諸偶像、

抑爾言恃爾上帝耶和華、何希西家廢其崇坵、去其祭壇、命猶大及耶路撒冷之民、惟在耶路撒冷壇前崇拜乎。
