He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had destroyed; he also erected altars to Baal and made an Asherah pole, as Ahab king of Israel had done. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them.

Manasseh rebuilt the high places. His father Hezekiah had destroyed them. Manasseh also set up altars to the god named Baal. He made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. Ahab, the king of Israel, had done those same things. Manasseh even bowed down to all the stars. And he worshiped them.

他犯了尼八的兒子耶羅波安所犯的罪、還以為輕，竟又娶了西頓王謁巴力的女兒耶洗別為妻子，去服事敬拜巴力；在他於撒瑪利亞所建造的巴力廟裏、他竟為巴力立起了一座祭壇。亞哈又立了亞舍拉神木；更加行惡來惹永恆主以色列之上帝的發怒，比他以前的以色列諸王更壞。

又恐怕你舉目望天，觀看着日、月、星辰、天上的萬象，就被勾引、去敬拜事奉它們，事奉永恆主你的上帝所分給普天下萬族之民的。

他重新建築他父親希西家所拆毁的邱壇，又為巴力立了祭壇，又造亞舍拉神木，並且敬拜而服事天上的萬象。他竟又在永恆主殿中為外人的神築了祭壇；這殿是永恆主曾指着說：『我的名必永遠在耶路撒冷』的。瑪拿西在永恆主之殿的兩院中為天上萬象築了祭壇。

我若見日光照耀，寶月行空，

耶戶集合了眾民，對他們說：『亞哈事奉巴力還是小可，耶戶卻要大大事奉他。現在你要叫巴力的眾神言人、和所有事奉巴力的人、以及巴力的眾祭司、都到我這裏來；一個也不要缺；因為我有大宰祭要獻給巴力：凡缺席的就活不了。』但耶戶這樣行、是用詭計、要殺滅事奉巴力的人。耶戶說：『要為巴力祝聖一個聖節會。』他們就這樣宣告了。

王吩咐大祭司希勒家和副祭司跟把守門檻的、將那為巴力和亞舍拉女神跟天上萬象所造的器皿、都從永恆主殿堂裏搬出來，在耶路撒冷外頭汲淪谿谷的田園裏燒了，把灰燼拿到伯特利去。從前猶大諸王所立拜偶像的祭司、在猶大各城的邱壇和耶路撒冷的四圍燻祭、現在王都罷免他們；也罷免那些向巴力和日月星辰跟天上萬象燻祭的人。

因為你守了暗利的規例和亞哈家一切所行的，按照他們的計畫去行，好叫我使你荒涼，使你的居民被嗤笑；你們也必擔受萬族之民的羞辱。』

他們將給了他們的公牛豫備好了，就呼求巴力的名，從早晨直到中午一直呼求說：『巴力啊，答應我們吧！』卻沒有聲音，也沒有答應的；他們直在所造的祭壇旁舞蹈跳躍。

他走了以色列諸王所走的路，正如亞哈家所作的；因為他娶了亞哈的女兒做妻子，行永恆主所看為壞的事。

以利亞湊近眾民面前，說：『你們猶豫於兩可之間、要到幾時呢？如果永恆主是上帝，你們就應該隨從永恆主；如果巴力是上帝，你們就隨從巴力好啦。』眾民一句話也不回答。

亞哈謝走亞哈家所走的路，行永恆主所看為壞的事，像亞哈家一樣，因為他是亞哈家的女婿。

他在位第八年，那時還年幼，就開始尋求他祖大衛的上帝。第十二年他便開始潔淨猶大和耶路撒冷，除去邱壇、亞舍拉神木、雕像、和鑄像。

你們若對我說：『我們是倚靠耶和華我們的上帝的』，那麼這耶和華豈不是那一位、希西家曾將他的邱壇和祭壇廢去，並且對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：「你們要在耶路撒冷這祭壇前敬拜」的麼？

這希西家豈不是曾經把他的邱壇和祭壇廢去，告訴猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：『你們要在一個祭壇前敬拜，要在那上頭燻祭』麼？
