Manasseh rebuilt the high places. His father Hezekiah had destroyed them. Manasseh also set up altars to the god named Baal. He made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. Ahab, the king of Israel, had done those same things. Manasseh even bowed down to all the stars. And he worshiped them.

他废去邱坛，毁坏柱像，砍下木偶，打碎摩西所造的铜蛇，因为到那时以色列人仍向铜蛇烧香。希西家叫铜蛇为铜块。

离弃耶和华他们神的一切诫命，为自己铸了两个牛犊的像，立了亚舍拉，敬拜天上的万象，侍奉巴力，

去侍奉敬拜别神，或拜日头，或拜月亮，或拜天象，是主不曾吩咐的；

犯了尼八的儿子耶罗波安所犯的罪；他还以为轻，又娶了西顿王谒巴力的女儿耶洗别为妻，去侍奉敬拜巴力，在撒玛利亚建造巴力的庙，在庙里为巴力筑坛。亚哈又做亚舍拉，他所行的惹耶和华以色列神的怒气，比他以前的以色列诸王更甚。

又恐怕你向天举目观看，见耶和华你的神为天下万民所摆列的日月星，就是天上的万象，自己便被勾引敬拜侍奉它。

重新建筑他父希西家所拆毁的邱坛，又为巴力筑坛，做木偶，且敬拜侍奉天上的万象，在耶和华的殿宇中筑坛。耶和华曾指着这殿说：“我的名必永远在耶路撒冷。”他在耶和华殿的两院中为天上的万象筑坛，

我若见太阳发光，明月行在空中，

耶户招聚众民，对他们说：“亚哈侍奉巴力还冷淡，耶户却更热心。现在我要给巴力献大祭。应当叫巴力的众先知和一切拜巴力的人，并巴力的众祭司，都到我这里来，不可缺少一个；凡不来的必不得活。”耶户这样行，是用诡计要杀尽拜巴力的人。耶户说：“要为巴力宣告严肃会！”于是宣告了。

王吩咐大祭司希勒家和副祭司，并把门的，将那为巴力和亚舍拉，并天上万象所造的器皿，都从耶和华殿里搬出来，在耶路撒冷外汲沦溪旁的田间烧了，把灰拿到伯特利去。从前犹大列王所立拜偶像的祭司，在犹大城邑的邱坛和耶路撒冷的周围烧香，现在王都废去，又废去向巴力和日、月、行星，并天上万象烧香的人；

因为你守暗利的恶规，行亚哈家一切所行的，顺从他们的计谋；因此，我必使你荒凉，使你的居民令人嗤笑，你们也必担当我民的羞辱。”

他们将所得的牛犊预备好了，从早晨到午间，求告巴力的名说：“巴力啊，求你应允我们！”却没有声音，没有应允的。他们在所筑的坛四围踊跳。

他行以色列诸王所行的，与亚哈家一样；因为他娶了亚哈的女儿为妻，行耶和华眼中看为恶的事。

以利亚前来对众民说：“你们心持两意要到几时呢？若耶和华是神，就当顺从耶和华；若巴力是神，就当顺从巴力。”众民一言不答。

亚哈谢效法亚哈家行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，与亚哈家一样，因为他是亚哈家的女婿。

他作王第八年，尚且年幼，就寻求他祖大卫的神。到了十二年才洁净犹大和耶路撒冷，除掉邱坛、木偶、雕刻的像，和铸造的像。

你们若对我说：我们倚靠耶和华我们的神，希西家岂不是将神的邱坛和祭坛废去，且对犹大和耶路撒冷的人说：你们当在耶路撒冷这坛前敬拜吗？

这希西家岂不是废去耶和华的邱坛和祭坛，吩咐犹大与耶路撒冷的人说：‘你们当在一个坛前敬拜，在其上烧香’吗？
