In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said,“ This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”

In those days Hezekiah became very sick. He was about to die. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him. Isaiah told Hezekiah,“ The Lord says,‘ Put everything in order. Make out your will. You are going to die soon. You will not get well again.’ ”

In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him and said to him,“ Thus says the Lord,‘ Set your house in order, for you shall die; you shall not recover.’”

About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to visit him. He gave the king this message:“ This is what the Lord says: Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.”

In those days Hezekiah became terminally ill. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came and said to him,“ This is what the LORD says:‘ Set your house in order, for you are about to die; you will not recover.’”

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him and said to him,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Set your house in order, for you are going to die and not live.’ ”

In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’”

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Set thy house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him,“ This is what the LORD says,‘ Give your household instructions, for you are about to die; you will not get well.’”

In those days Hezekiah was sick and dying. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him,“ Yahweh says,‘ Set your house in order; for you will die, and not live.’”

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said,“ This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord,“ Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah:“ Go and tell Hezekiah,‘ This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.“‘ This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised:I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.’” So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down.A writing of Hezekiah king of Judah after his illness and recovery:I said,“ In the prime of my life must I go through the gates of death and be robbed of the rest of my years?”I said,“ I will not again see the Lord himself in the land of the living; no longer will I look on my fellow man, or be with those who now dwell in this world.Like a shepherd’s tent my house has been pulled down and taken from me. Like a weaver I have rolled up my life, and he has cut me off from the loom; day and night you made an end of me.I waited patiently till dawn, but like a lion he broke all my bones; day and night you made an end of me.I cried like a swift or thrush, I moaned like a mourning dove. My eyes grew weak as I looked to the heavens. I am being threatened; Lord, come to my aid!”But what can I say? He has spoken to me, and he himself has done this. I will walk humbly all my years because of this anguish of my soul.Lord, by such things people live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live.Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.The living, the living— they praise you, as I am doing today; parents tell their children about your faithfulness.The Lord will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the temple of the Lord.Isaiah had said,“ Prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil, and he will recover.”Hezekiah had asked,“ What will be the sign that I will go up to the temple of the Lord?”

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. He prayed to the Lord, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign.But Hezekiah’s heart was proud and he did not respond to the kindness shown him; therefore the Lord’s wrath was on him and on Judah and Jerusalem.Then Hezekiah repented of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the Lord’s wrath did not come on them during the days of Hezekiah.

If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed,and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned.And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted,and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.

Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah:“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.

When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb.

Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow.

Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming,“ Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh:“ By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.”When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.

He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.

because he almost died for the work of Christ. He risked his life to make up for the help you yourselves could not give me.

Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.( This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.)So the sisters sent word to Jesus,“ Lord, the one you love is sick.”When he heard this, Jesus said,“ This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
