When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”“ Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

After they had gone across, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me. What can I do for you before I’m taken away from you?”“ Please give me a double share of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said,“ Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me.”

When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.” And Elisha replied,“ Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.”

When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken from you.” So Elisha answered,“ Please, let me inherit two shares of your spirit.”

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I am taken from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said,“ Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”

On the contrary, he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the unloved wife, by giving him a double portion of everything that he owns, for he was the beginning of his strength; to him belongs the right of the firstborn.

Then I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take away some of the Spirit who is upon you, and put Him upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you will not bear it by yourself.

The elders who lead well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.

Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him; and He took away some of the Spirit who was upon him and placed Him upon the seventy elders. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. Yet they did not do it again.

Now Joshua the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands on him; and the sons of Israel listened to him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Give the king Your judgments, God, And Your righteousness to the king’s son.

But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.

So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, to discern between good and evil. For who is capable of judging this great people of Yours?”

Now, Lord God, Your promise to my father David is fulfilled, for You have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.Now give me wisdom and knowledge, so that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this great people of Yours?”

“ And now behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will no longer see my face.Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all people.For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things to draw away the disciples after them.Therefore, be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.And now I entrust you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or clothes.You yourselves know that these hands served my own needs and the men who were with me.In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”When he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.

Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the intentions of the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts to You;and give my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, and to do them all, and to build the temple for which I have made provision.”

Return to the stronghold, you prisoners who have the hope; This very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you.

But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And yet, I am going to show you a far better way.

I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on the behalf of those whom You have given Me, because they are Yours;and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.I am no longer going to be in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, so that they may be one just as We are.While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name, which You have given Me; and I guarded them, and not one of them perished except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.But now I am coming to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves.

On that day the Lord will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them on that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord before them.

When Elisha became sick with the illness of which he was to die, Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over him and said,“ My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!”And Elisha said to him,“ Take a bow and arrows.” So he took a bow and arrows.Then Elisha said to the king of Israel,“ Lay your hand on the bow.” And he laid his hand on it, then Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.And he said,“ Open the window toward the east,” and he opened it. Then Elisha said,“ Shoot!” So he shot. And he said,“ The Lord’s arrow of victory, and the arrow of victory over Aram; for you will defeat the Arameans at Aphek until you have put an end to them.”Then he said,“ Take the arrows,” and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel,“ Strike the ground,” and he struck it three times and stopped.Then the man of God became angry at him and said,“ You should have struck five or six times, then you would have struck Aram until you put an end to it. But now you shall strike Aram only three times.”

Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,and He said to them,“ So it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.You are witnesses of these things.And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.While He was blessing them, He parted from them and was carried up into heaven.

The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.”

“ May the Lord, the God of the spirits of humanity, appoint a man over the congregation,who will go out and come in before them, and lead them out and bring them in, so that the congregation of the Lord will not be like sheep that have no shepherd.”So the Lord said to Moses,“ Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;and have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and commission him in their sight.And you shall put some of your authority on him, so that all the congregation of the sons of Israel will obey him.Moreover, he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his command they shall go out, and at his command they shall come in, both he and all the sons of Israel with him, all the congregation.”Then Moses did just as the Lord commanded him; he took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation.Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, just as the Lord had spoken through Moses.

Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to the Father.And whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
