Then he struck the water with Elijah’s coat.“ Where is the power of the Lord?” he asked.“ Where is the power of the God of Elijah?” When Elisha struck the water, it parted to the right and to the left. He went across the river.

Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the water, saying,“ Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” And when he had struck the water, the water was parted to the one side and to the other, and Elisha went over.

He struck the water with Elijah’s cloak and cried out,“ Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” Then the river divided, and Elisha went across.

He took the mantle Elijah had dropped, and he struck the water.“ Where is the LORD God of Elijah?” he asked. He struck the water himself, and it parted to the right and the left, and Elisha crossed over.

Then he took the coat of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the waters, and said,“ Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the waters, they were divided here and there; and Elisha crossed over.

He took the cloak that had fallen off Elijah, hit the water with it, and said,“ Where is the LORD, THE God of Elijah?” When he hit the water, it divided and Elisha crossed over.

He took Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said,“ Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided apart, and Elisha went over.

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Why do the nations say,“ Where is their God?”

My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long,“ Where is your God?”

Let the priests, who minister before the Lord, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say,“ Spare your people, Lord. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples,‘ Where is their God?’”

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide:“ Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them— to the Israelites.I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates— all the Hittite country— to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.“ Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

“ Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied,“ but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said,‘ Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed:“ Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried,“ The Lord— he is God! The Lord— he is God!”

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed over on dry ground.When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,“ Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”“ Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.“ You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah said,“ yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours— otherwise, it will not.”

When Peter saw this, he said to them:“ Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.

Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
