原來主早已使亞蘭人的軍兵聽見車聲馬聲和大軍的聲音；他們就彼此說：『啊，這必是以色列王雇了赫人諸王和慕斯利人諸王來攻擊我們的。』

他射出他的箭來，使仇敵四散；他閃了閃電使他們潰亂。永恆主啊，你的叱責一發，你鼻孔的氣息一呼出，海底就出現，大地的根基也現露。

他們由上帝噓的氣而滅亡；由上帝怒氣的風而消沒。

就在那一天夜裏、永恆主的使者就出來，在亞述營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；第二天早晨、人清早起來，哎呀，都是死屍。亞述王西拿基立拔了營走，就回去，住在尼尼微。他在他的神尼斯洛廟裏叩拜的時候，亞得米勒、他兒子、和沙利色、用刀弒殺了他，逃到亞拉臘地。他兒子以撒哈頓接替他作王。

震懾的聲音常在他耳中；在興隆時、強盜必臨到他那裏。

他憑義氣為貧寒人申正義，以正直判斷國中的困苦人；他以口中的杖擊打強橫人，以嘴裏的氣殺死惡人。

我們的上帝來臨，決不緘默；有火在他面前焚燒着，有暴風在他四圍大颳着。

永恆主這麼說：『看吧，我必激動毁滅者的心去攻擊巴比倫和住在迦勒底的人。

他必向惡人下炭火跟硫磺雨；必有焚燒的風做他們杯中的分。

我從永恆主那裏聽到了信息，並有使節奉差到列國中，說：『你們要集合來攻擊以東；要起來作戰！

你們不要心驚膽怯，不要因境內所聽到的風聲而懼怕；因為這年有風聲傳來，那年也有風聲傳到；境內且有強暴的事，政權攻擊政權。

俄巴底亞所見的異象。我們從永恆主那裏聽到了信息，同時有使節奉差在列國中，說：『起來！我們起來作戰、攻擊以東吧！』論到以東、主永恆主是這麼說的：

因此主萬軍之永恆主必打發消瘦去在亞述王的肥胖中，在他的威榮下就有燃燒燒起，如火燃燒一樣。以色列的光必成為火，他的聖者必成為火燄，一日之間就把亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燬燒滅。又把他的樹林和園地之華美連魂帶體全都滅盡，他就像熔化之物之熔化一樣。

永恆主就差遣了一個使者、在亞述王營中把一切有力氣英勇的人和將官及元帥、盡都抹除。亞述王滿面慚愧回他本地去。他進了他的神的廟，他親生的兒子在那裏用刀把他砍倒。
