Listen! When he hears a certain report, I will make him want to return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.’”

因為主使亞蘭人的軍隊聽見車馬的聲音，是大軍的聲音；他們就彼此說：「這必是以色列王賄買赫人的諸王和埃及人的諸王來攻擊我們。」

他射出箭來，使仇敵四散；多多發出閃電，使他們擾亂。耶和華啊，你的斥責一發，你鼻孔的氣一出，海底就出現，大地的根基也顯露。

神一出氣，他們就滅亡；神一發怒，他們就消沒。

當夜，耶和華的使者出去，在亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。清早有人起來，一看，都是死屍了。亞述王西拿基立就拔營回去，住在尼尼微。一日在他的神尼斯洛廟裏叩拜，他兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，就逃到亞拉臘地。他兒子以撒哈頓接續他作王。

驚嚇的聲音常在他耳中；在平安時，搶奪的必臨到他那裏。

卻要以公義審判貧窮人，以正直判斷世上的謙卑人，以口中的杖擊打世界，以嘴裏的氣殺戮惡人。

我們的神要來，決不閉口。有烈火在他面前吞滅；有暴風在他四圍大颳。

耶和華如此說：我必使毀滅的風颳起，攻擊巴比倫和住在立加米的人。

他要向惡人密布網羅；有烈火、硫磺、熱風，作他們杯中的分。

我從耶和華那裏聽見信息，並有使者被差往列國去，說：你們聚集來攻擊以東，要起來爭戰。

你們不要心驚膽怯，也不要因境內所聽見的風聲懼怕；因為這年有風聲傳來；那年也有風聲傳來，境內有強暴的事，官長攻擊官長。

俄巴底亞得了耶和華的默示。論以東說：我從耶和華那裏聽見信息，並有使者被差往列國去，說：起來吧，一同起來與以東爭戰！

因此，主－萬軍之耶和華必使亞述王的肥壯人變為瘦弱，在他的榮華之下必有火着起，如同焚燒一樣。以色列的光必如火；他的聖者必如火焰。在一日之間，將亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒淨盡；又將他樹林和肥田的榮耀全然燒盡，好像拿軍旗的昏過去一樣。

耶和華就差遣一個使者進入亞述王營中，把所有大能的勇士和官長、將帥盡都滅了。亞述王滿面含羞地回到本國，進了他神的廟中，有他親生的兒子在那裏用刀殺了他。
