Listen! When he hears a certain report, I will make him want to return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.’”

因为主使亚兰人的军队听见车马的声音，是大军的声音；他们就彼此说：“这必是以色列王贿买赫人的诸王和埃及人的诸王来攻击我们。”

他射出箭来，使仇敌四散；多多发出闪电，使他们扰乱。耶和华啊，你的斥责一发，你鼻孔的气一出，海底就出现，大地的根基也显露。

神一出气，他们就灭亡；神一发怒，他们就消没。

当夜，耶和华的使者出去，在亚述营中杀了十八万五千人。清早有人起来，一看，都是死尸了。亚述王西拿基立就拔营回去，住在尼尼微。一日在他的神尼斯洛庙里叩拜，他儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，就逃到亚拉腊地。他儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

惊吓的声音常在他耳中；在平安时，抢夺的必临到他那里。

却要以公义审判贫穷人，以正直判断世上的谦卑人，以口中的杖击打世界，以嘴里的气杀戮恶人。

我们的神要来，决不闭口。有烈火在他面前吞灭；有暴风在他四围大刮。

耶和华如此说：“我必使毁灭的风刮起，攻击巴比伦和住在立加米的人。

他要向恶人密布网罗；有烈火、硫磺、热风，作他们杯中的份。

我从耶和华那里听见信息，并有使者被差往列国去，说：“你们聚集来攻击以东，要起来争战。

你们不要心惊胆怯，也不要因境内所听见的风声惧怕；因为这年有风声传来；那年也有风声传来，境内有强暴的事，官长攻击官长。

俄巴底亚得了耶和华的默示。论以东说：“我从耶和华那里听见信息，并有使者被差往列国去，说：起来吧，一同起来与以东争战！

因此，主万军之耶和华必使亚述王的肥壮人变为瘦弱，在他的荣华之下必有火着起，如同焚烧一样。以色列的光必如火；他的圣者必如火焰。在一日之间，将亚述王的荆棘和蒺藜焚烧净尽；又将他树林和肥田的荣耀全然烧尽，好像拿军旗的昏过去一样。

耶和华就差遣一个使者进入亚述王营中，把所有大能的勇士和官长、将帅尽都灭了。亚述王满面含羞地回到本国，进了他神的庙中，有他亲生的儿子在那里用刀杀了他。
