Listen! When he hears a certain report, I will make him want to return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.’”

因為主使亞蘭人的軍隊聽見戰車、戰馬和大軍的聲音；他們就彼此說：“看哪，一定是以色列王雇用了赫人的眾王和埃及人的眾王來攻擊我們。”

他射出箭來，使它們四散；他連連發出閃電，使它們混亂。耶和華斥責一發，你鼻孔的氣一出，海底就出現，大地的根基也顯露。

他們因神的氣息而滅亡，因他的怒氣而消滅。

那天晚上，耶和華的使者出去，在亞述軍營殺了十八萬五千人。早上，他們起來的時候，看哪，到處都是死屍。於是亞述王西拿基立拔營離開，回去住在尼尼微。一日，他正在他的神亞斯洛的廟中叩拜的時候，亞得米勒和沙利色用刀刺殺了他，然後逃到亞拉臘地。他的兒子以撒哈頓接續他作王。

恐怖之聲常在他的耳中，太平的時候，強盜就來襲擊他。

卻要以公義審判貧窮人，以正直判斷地上的困苦人；以口中的杖擊打世界，以嘴裡的氣殺死惡人。

我們的神來臨，決不緘默無聲；在他面前有火燃燒，在他四周有暴風颳起。

耶和華這樣說：“看哪！我必激動毀滅者的心，去攻擊巴比倫和住在立加米的人。

耶和華必使火炭落在惡人身上，烈火、硫磺和旱風是他們杯中的分。

我從耶和華那裡聽見了一個信息，有一位使者被派往列國去，說：“你們要聚集去攻擊以東，要起來爭戰！”

你們不要心驚膽怯，也不要因在境內聽到的謠言懼怕；因為今年有謠言傳來，明年也會有謠言傳來，境內有強暴的事，官長互相攻擊。

俄巴底亞所見的異象。主耶和華指著以東這樣說：我們從耶和華那裡聽見了一個信息，有一位使者被派往列國去，說：“起來吧！我們起來與以東爭戰。”

因此，主萬軍之耶和華必打發令人消瘦的病臨到亞述王肥壯的軍人中間，在他的榮耀之下必燃起火燄，如同火燒一樣。以色列的光必變成火，他的聖者必成為火燄；在一日之間把亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒與吞滅。又把他樹林和豐盛果園的榮美全部滅盡，包括靈魂和身體，好像一個患病的人漸漸虛弱一樣。

耶和華就差派一位使者，進入亞述王的軍營中，把所有英勇的戰士、官長和將帥，盡都消滅了。亞述王滿面羞愧返回本國去了。他進入自己的神廟的時候，他親生的兒子在那裡用刀把他殺了。
