It may be that the Lord your God will hear all the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the Lord your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives.”

Perhaps the Lord your God will hear everything the field commander has said. His master, the king of Assyria, has sent him to make fun of the living God. Maybe the Lord your God will punish him for what he has heard him say. So pray for the remaining people who are still alive here.’ ”

It may be that the Lord your God heard all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard; therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.”

But perhaps the Lord your God has heard the Assyrian chief of staff, sent by the king to defy the living God, and will punish him for his words. Oh, pray for those of us who are left!”

Perhaps the LORD your God will hear all the words of the royal spokesman, whom his master the king of Assyria sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke him for the words that the LORD your God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the surviving remnant.’”

Perhaps the Lord your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to taunt the living God, and will avenge the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the remnant that is left.’ ”

It may be that the Lord your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

It may be Jehovah thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Jehovah thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.

Perhaps Yahweh your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke him for the words that Yahweh your God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the surviving remnant.’”

所以你們要彼此認罪，互相代求，使你們可以得醫治。義人祈禱所發的力量是大有功效的。以利亞與我們是一樣性情的人，他懇切禱告，求不要下雨，雨就三年零六個月不下在地上。

求你將耶和華那日應許我的這山地給我；那裏有亞衲族人，並寬大堅固的城，你也曾聽見了。或者耶和華照他所應許的與我同在，我就把他們趕出去。」

耶和華啊，仇敵辱罵，愚頑民褻瀆了你的名，求你記念這事。

亞述王從拉吉差遣他珥探、拉伯撒利，和拉伯沙基率領大軍往耶路撒冷，到希西家王那裏去。他們上到耶路撒冷，就站在上池的水溝旁，在漂布地的大路上。他們呼叫王的時候，就有希勒家的兒子家宰以利亞敬，並書記舍伯那和亞薩的兒子史官約亞，出來見他們。拉伯沙基說：「你們去告訴希西家說，亞述大王如此說：『你所倚靠的有甚麼可仗賴的呢？你說有打仗的計謀和能力，我看不過是虛話。你到底倚靠誰才背叛我呢？看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那壓傷的葦杖；人若靠這杖，就必刺透他的手。埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是這樣。你們若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華－我們的神，希西家豈不是將神的邱壇和祭壇廢去，且對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：你們當在耶路撒冷這壇前敬拜嗎？現在你把當頭給我主亞述王，我給你二千匹馬，看你這一面騎馬的人夠不夠。若不然，怎能打敗我主臣僕中最小的軍長呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車馬兵嗎？現在我上來攻擊毀滅這地，豈沒有耶和華的意思嗎？耶和華吩咐我說：你上去攻擊毀滅這地吧！』」希勒家的兒子以利亞敬和舍伯那，並約亞，對拉伯沙基說：「求你用亞蘭言語和僕人說話，因為我們懂得；不要用猶大言語和我們說話，達到城上百姓的耳中。」拉伯沙基說：「我主差遣我來，豈是單對你和你的主說這些話嗎？不也是對這些坐在城上、要與你們一同吃自己糞、喝自己尿的人說嗎？」於是拉伯沙基站着，用猶大言語大聲喊着說：「你們當聽亞述大王的話！王如此說：『你們不要被希西家欺哄了；因他不能救你們脫離我的手。也不要聽希西家使你們倚靠耶和華，說耶和華必要拯救我們，這城必不交在亞述王的手中。』不要聽希西家的話！因亞述王如此說：『你們要與我和好，出來投降我，各人就可以吃自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裏的水。等我來領你們到一個地方與你們本地一樣，就是有五穀和新酒之地，有糧食和葡萄園之地，有橄欖樹和蜂蜜之地，好使你們存活，不至於死。希西家勸導你們，說耶和華必拯救我們；你們不要聽他的話。列國的神有哪一個救他本國脫離亞述王的手呢？哈馬、亞珥拔的神在哪裏呢？西法瓦音、希拿、以瓦的神在哪裏呢？他們曾救撒馬利亞脫離我的手嗎？這些國的神有誰曾救自己的國脫離我的手呢？難道耶和華能救耶路撒冷脫離我的手嗎？』」

所以，耶和華－他的神將他交在亞蘭王手裏。亞蘭王打敗他，擄了他許多的民，帶到大馬士革去。神又將他交在以色列王手裏，以色列王向他大行殺戮。利瑪利的兒子比加一日殺了猶大人十二萬，都是勇士，因為他們離棄了耶和華－他們列祖的神。

我要打發他攻擊褻瀆的國民，吩咐他攻擊我所惱怒的百姓，搶財為擄物，奪貨為掠物，將他們踐踏，像街上的泥土一樣。

耶和華見他百姓毫無能力，無論困住的、自由的都沒有剩下，就必為他們伸冤，為他的僕人後悔。

因此，主必使大河翻騰的水猛然沖來，就是亞述王和他所有的威勢，必漫過一切的水道，漲過兩岸；必沖入猶大，漲溢氾濫，直到頸項。以馬內利啊，他展開翅膀，遍滿你的地。」

你行了這些事，我還閉口不言，你想我恰和你一樣；其實我要責備你，將這些事擺在你眼前。

大衛對非利士人說：「你來攻擊我，是靠着刀槍和銅戟；我來攻擊你，是靠着萬軍之耶和華的名，就是你所怒罵帶領以色列軍隊的神。

若不是萬軍之耶和華給我們稍留餘種，我們早已像所多瑪、蛾摩拉的樣子了。

亞伯拉罕給那地方起名叫「耶和華以勒」，直到今日人還說：「在耶和華的山上必有預備。」

並要在患難之日求告我；我必搭救你，你也要榮耀我。

你求告我，我就應允你，並將你所不知道、又大又難的事指示你。

你辱罵誰？褻瀆誰？揚起聲來，高舉眼目攻擊誰呢？乃是攻擊以色列的聖者！

亞述王上來攻擊以色列遍地，上到撒馬利亞，圍困三年。何細亞第九年亞述王攻取了撒馬利亞，將以色列人擄到亞述，把他們安置在哈臘與歌散的哈博河邊，並米底亞人的城邑。

希西家王十四年，亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大的一切堅固城，將城攻取。

約拿單對拿兵器的少年人說：「我們不如過到未受割禮人的防營那裏去，或者耶和華為我們施展能力；因為耶和華使人得勝，不在乎人多人少。」

希西家王和亞摩斯的兒子先知以賽亞因此禱告，向天呼求。
