七月十七日，方舟停在亚拉腊山上。

看哪，我必惊动他的心，他要听见风声就归回本地，在那里我必使他倒在刀下。’”

我祖先所灭的那些国的神明，有谁能救自己的百姓脱离我的手呢？难道你们的神能救你们脱离我的手吗？

不要听凭希西家说服你们倚靠耶和华，他说，耶和华必要拯救我们，这城必不交在亚述王的手中。’

“你们要对犹大王希西家如此说：‘不要听你所倚靠的神欺哄你说：耶路撒冷必不交在亚述王的手中。

希西家倚靠耶和华—以色列的神，在他之前和在他之后的犹大列王中没有一个像他一样的。

他们谈论耶路撒冷的神，如同谈论世上人手所造的神明一样。

耶和华就差遣一个使者进入亚述王的营中，把所有大能的勇士、官长和将领尽都灭了。亚述王满面羞愧地回到本国，进了他神明的庙中，他几个亲生的儿子在那里用刀杀了他。
