That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty- five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning— there were all the dead bodies!

And that night the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere.

到了半夜，耶和华把埃及地所有的长子，就是从坐王位的法老的长子，直到监牢里遭囚禁的人的长子，以及所有头生的牲畜，都击杀了。在那一夜，法老本人和他所有的臣仆，以及全埃及的人都起来了；在埃及有极大的哀号，因为没有一家不死人的。

当天使向耶路撒冷伸手，要毁灭耶路撒冷的时候，耶和华就后悔降这灾祸，就对那毁灭众民的天使说：“够了，现在住手吧！”那时，耶和华的天使在耶布斯人亚劳拿的打禾场那里。

耶和华就差派一位使者，进入亚述王的军营中，把所有英勇的战士、官长和将帅，尽都消灭了。亚述王满面羞愧返回本国去了。他进入自己的神庙的时候，他亲生的儿子在那里用刀把他杀了。这样，耶和华拯救了希西家和耶路撒冷的居民，脱离了亚述王西拿基立的手，和其他仇敌的手，又使他们四境平安。

大卫举目看见耶和华的使者站在天地之间，手里拿着出了鞘的刀，指向耶路撒冷。大卫和众长老都穿上麻布，脸伏于地。

于是耶和华的使者出去，在亚述营中击杀了十八万五千人；到了早晨，有人起来，所见的都是死尸。

他不归荣耀给神，所以主的使者立刻击打他，他被虫咬，就断了气。

当夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被杀。

看哪！主万军之耶和华在可怕的震撼声中，把树枝削去；身量高的必被砍下，高大的必被伐倒。

或是三年的饥荒；或是在你敌人面前逃亡，被你仇敌的刀剑追杀三个月；或是耶和华的刀攻击三天，就是在国中发生瘟疫三日，耶和华的使者在以色列的四境施行毁灭。’现在你考虑一下，我该用什么话回覆那差派我来的。”

因为你们自己清楚知道，主的日子来到，就像夜间的贼来到一样。人正在说平安稳妥的时候，毁灭性的灾祸就突然临到他们，好像生产的痛苦临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。

人的忿怒必使你得称赞，人的余怒必成为你的装饰。

心里勇敢的人都被抢掠，他们长睡不起；所有大能的勇士都无力举手。雅各的神啊！因你的斥责，坐车的和骑马的都沉睡了。唯有你是可畏的，你的烈怒一发出，谁能在你面前站立得住呢？

“但我要怜恤犹大家，使他们靠耶和华他们的神得救。我要拯救他们，并不是靠弓、靠刀、靠战争，也不是靠战马、靠骑兵。”

耶和华必使人听见他威严的声音，在烈怒、吞灭一切火焰、大雨、暴风和冰雹之中，又使人看见他那降下来的膀臂。亚述人必因耶和华的声音惊惶；耶和华要用杖击打他们。耶和华必把刑罚的杖加在他们身上，每打一下，都有击鼓和弹琴的声音；耶和华在争战的时候，必挥动着手与他们争战。因为陀斐特那烧着的火早已安排好了，是为君王预备的，又深又宽；其中所堆的，是火和许多的柴；耶和华的气像一股硫磺火，把它燃点起来。

因此，主万军之耶和华必打发令人消瘦的病临到亚述王肥壮的军人中间，在他的荣耀之下必燃起火焰，如同火烧一样。以色列的光必变成火，他的圣者必成为火焰；在一日之间把亚述王的荆棘和蒺藜焚烧与吞灭。又把他树林和丰盛果园的荣美全部灭尽，包括灵魂和身体，好像一个患病的人渐渐虚弱一样。他林中剩下的树，数目必定稀少，连小孩子也能把它们的数目写下来。

愿他们像风前的糠秕，有耶和华的使者驱逐他们。愿他们的路又暗又滑，有耶和华的使者追赶他们。

因为耶和华要走遍各处击打埃及人；他一看见门楣和两边的门柱上有血，就越过那门，不让那毁灭者进入你们的房屋来击杀你们。
