Their people do not have any power left. They are troubled and put to shame. They are like plants in the field. They are like new green plants. They are like grass that grows on a roof. It dries up before it is completely grown.

所以其中的居民力量甚小，惊惶羞愧。他们像野草，像青菜，如房顶上的草，又如未长成而枯干的禾稼。

城里的居民力量微小，他们惊惶羞愧；像野草，像青菜，如房顶上的草，又如未长成而枯干的禾稼。

城裏的居民力量微小，他們驚惶羞愧；像野草，像青菜，如房頂上的草，又如未長成而枯乾的禾稼。

而其中的居民手力短缺，驚慌慚愧；像田間的菜蔬，像綠草之青青如房頂上的草，未亭亭立而枯萎的莊稼麼？

故其居民力微、驚惶羞愧、如田草、如青蔬、如屋上之草、如未成而槁之禾、

彼民荏弱、驚懼懷羞、如山野之蔬、屋上之草、未及其長、為風所暴、

故其中居民皆荏弱無力、驚惶羞愧、乃如田草、如青蔬、如屋上之草、如未成而槁之禾苗、

Their people, drained of power, are dismayed and put to shame. They are like plants in the field, like tender green shoots, like grass sprouting on the roof, scorched before it grows up.

while their inhabitants, shorn of strength, are dismayed and confounded, and have become like plants of the field and like tender grass, like grass on the housetops, blighted before it is grown.

That is why their people have so little power and are so frightened and confused. They are as weak as grass, as easily trampled as tender green shoots. They are like grass sprouting on a housetop, scorched before it can grow lush and tall.

Their inhabitants have become powerless, dismayed, and ashamed. They are plants of the field, tender grass, grass on the rooftops, blasted by the east wind.

Therefore their inhabitants were powerless, They were shattered and put to shame. They were like the vegetation of the field and the green grass, Like grass on the housetops that is scorched before it has grown.

Therefore their inhabitants had little power; They were dismayed and confounded; They were as the grass of the field And the green herb, As the grass on the housetops And grain blighted before it is grown.

Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as grain blasted before it is grown up.

Their inhabitants have become powerless, dismayed, and ashamed. They are plants of the field, tender grass, grass on the rooftops, blasted by the east wind.

Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were[ as] the grass of the field, and[ as] the green herb,[ as] the grass on the housetops, and[ as corn] blasted before it be grown up.

Their residents are powerless, they are terrified and ashamed. They are as short-lived as plants in the field, or green vegetation. They are as short-lived as grass on the rooftops when it is scorched by the east wind.

Therefore their inhabitants had little power. They were dismayed and confounded. They were like the grass of the field, and like the green herb, like the grass on the housetops, and like grain blasted before it has grown up.

Another messenger says,“ Cry out.” And I said,“ What should I cry?”“ Cry out,‘ All people are like grass. They don’t stay faithful to me any longer than wildflowers last.The grass dries up. The flowers fall to the ground. That happens when the Lord makes his wind blow on them. So people are just like grass.The grass dries up. The flowers fall to the ground. But what our God says will stand forever.’ ”

It is written,“ All people are like grass. All their glory is like the flowers in the field. The grass dries up. The flowers fall to the ground.

May they be like grass that grows on the roof of a house. It dries up before it can grow.There isn’t enough of it to fill a person’s hand. There isn’t enough to tie up and carry away.May no one who passes by say to those who hate Zion,“ May the blessing of the Lord be on you. We bless you in the name of the Lord.”

But rich people should take pride in their low positions. That’s because they will fade away like wild flowers.The sun rises. Its burning heat dries up the plants. Their blossoms fall. Their beauty is destroyed. In the same way, rich people will fade away. They fade away even as they go about their business.

Those who are evil spring up like grass. Those who do wrong succeed. But they will be destroyed forever.

But don’t refuse to obey him. And don’t be afraid of the people of the land. We will swallow them up. The Lord is with us. So nothing can save them. Don’t be afraid of them.”

If the Lord doesn’t build a house, the work of the builders is useless. If the Lord doesn’t watch over a city, it’s useless for those on guard duty to stand watch over it.

The places where people go across the Euphrates River have been captured. The swamps have been set on fire. And the soldiers are terrified.”

A sword is coming against their prophets. But they are not really prophets at all! So they will look foolish. A sword is coming against their soldiers! They will be filled with terror.A sword is coming against their horses and chariots! It is coming against all the hired soldiers in their armies. They will become weak. A sword is coming against their treasures! They will be stolen.

The days of my life are like an evening shadow. I dry up like grass.

The Lord answered Moses,“ Am I not strong enough? Now you will see whether what I say will come true for you.”

Babylon’s soldiers have stopped fighting. They remain in their forts. Their strength is all gone. They have become weak. Their buildings are set on fire. The metal bars that lock their gates are broken.

Many kings joined forces. They entered Israel together.But when they saw Mount Zion, they were amazed. They ran away in terror.Trembling took hold of them. They felt pain like a woman giving birth.Lord, you destroyed them like ships of Tarshish that were torn apart by an east wind.

Suppose you destroy all the armies of Babylon that are attacking you. Suppose only wounded men are left in their tents. Even then they will come out and burn down this city.’ ”
