亞述列王之待諸國、施行翦滅、爾既聞之、而爾能得免乎、

爾亦聞亞述前王至於今、皆以剪滅列國是務、而爾猶獲救乎。

亞述列王如何待列國、如何翦滅列國、爾亦必聞之、獨爾能得免乎、

Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?

I’m sure you have heard about what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries. They have destroyed them completely. So do you think you will be saved?

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, devoting them to destruction. And shall you be delivered?

You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different?

Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries: They completely destroyed them. Will you be rescued?

Behold, you yourself have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, destroying them completely. So will you be saved?

Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered?

耶和華啊，亞述諸王果然使列國和列國之地變為荒蕪，將列國的神像扔在火裏，因為它們不是神，是人手所造的，是木頭、石頭，所以被滅絕了。

他說：「我的官長豈不都是君王嗎？迦勒挪豈不像迦基米施嗎？哈馬豈不像亞珥拔嗎？撒瑪利亞豈不像大馬士革嗎？既然我的手已伸到了這些有偶像的國，他們所雕刻的偶像過於耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的偶像，我豈不照樣待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像，如同我待撒瑪利亞和其中的偶像嗎？」

我與我祖先向列邦民族所行的，你們豈不知道嗎？列邦的神明何嘗能救自己的國脫離我的手呢？我祖先所滅的那些國的神明，有誰能救自己的百姓脫離我的手呢？難道你們的神能救你們脫離我的手嗎？

亞述王上來攻擊以色列全地，上到撒瑪利亞，圍困這城三年。何細亞第九年，亞述王攻取了撒瑪利亞，把以色列人擄到亞述，安置在哈臘與歌散的哈博河邊，以及瑪代人的城鎮。這是因為以色列人得罪了那領他們出埃及地、脫離埃及王法老之手的耶和華－他們的神，去敬畏別神，隨從耶和華在以色列人面前所趕出外邦人的風俗和以色列諸王所立的規條。以色列人暗中行不正的事，違背耶和華－他們的神，在他們所有的城鎮，從瞭望樓直到堅固城，建築丘壇；在各高岡上、各青翠樹下立柱像和亞舍拉；在各丘壇上燒香，效法耶和華在他們面前趕出的外邦人所行的，又行惡事，惹耶和華發怒。
