亞述列王之待諸國、施行翦滅、爾既聞之、而爾能得免乎、

爾亦聞亞述前王至於今、皆以剪滅列國是務、而爾猶獲救乎。

亞述列王如何待列國、如何翦滅列國、爾亦必聞之、獨爾能得免乎、

Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?

I’m sure you have heard about what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries. They have destroyed them completely. So do you think you will be saved?

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, devoting them to destruction. And shall you be delivered?

You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different?

Look, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries: They completely destroyed them. Will you be rescued?

Behold, you yourself have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, destroying them completely. So will you be saved?

Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered?

耶和华啊！亚述列王真的曾毁坏列国和它们的领土，把它们的神丢进火里，但他们并不是神，不过是人手用木头、石头做成的，因此他们可以把他们除掉。

因为他说：“在我手下的众领袖不都是王吗？迦勒挪不是像迦基米施吗？哈玛不是像亚珥拔吗？撒玛利亚不是像大马士革吗？我的手伸展到这些充满偶像的国，他们雕刻的像比耶路撒冷和撒玛利亚的还多。我怎样对待撒玛利亚和其中的偶像，不也照样对待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像吗？”

我和我列祖向各地的民族所行的，你们不知道吗？各地列国的神能拯救他们的国脱离我的手吗？我列祖消灭的那些国的众神，有哪一个能拯救自己的子民脱离我的手呢？难道你们的神能拯救你们脱离我的手吗？

亚述王上来攻击以色列全国各地，并且到撒玛利亚来，围城三年。何细亚在位第九年，亚述王占领了撒玛利亚，把以色列人掳到亚述去，安置他们在哈腊，在哈博河和歌散河一带，以及在玛代人的各城。这是因为以色列人得罪了那曾带领他们从埃及王法老的手下离开埃及的耶和华他们的神，去敬畏别的神。他们随从耶和华从以色列人面前驱逐的外族人的风俗，以及以色列诸王奉行的风俗。以色列人暗中做了不对的事，违背耶和华他们的神，并且在他们所有的城市，从哨站到设防城，为他们自己建筑邱坛。又在各高山顶上和每一棵青翠的树下竖立神柱和亚舍拉。他们在各邱坛上献祭和焚香，好像耶和华从他们的面前掳去的外族人一样，又行恶事，使耶和华发怒。
