以賽亞曰、當告爾主、耶和華云、爾聞亞述王使臣侮我之言、毋畏、

彼拉多曰、爾不答我、豈不知我有權釘爾、亦有權釋爾乎、耶穌曰、非自上賜、爾則無權治我、故賣我者罪益大、

爾所侮所欺者為誰、爾白眼而視、疾聲而呼、欲攻誰乎。豈非以色列族之聖者乎。爾遣人侮耶和華云、我率眾軍、已躋山巔、在利巴嫩旁、斫柏香木之高者、松柏之美者、我必造其極處、奪其良田。我在異邦鑿井而飲、所經之地、圍其城垣、絶其汲道。耶和華云、爾豈不聞、自古以來、作之者我、定之者亦我、今爾變城垣而為瓦礫、乃我使之然。彼民荏弱、驚懼懷羞、如山野之蔬、屋上之草、未及其長、為風所暴、爾之居處、爾之出入、爾之狂妄、欲攻擊我、我知之矣。因爾狂妄驕奢、升聞於上、故必置圈於爾鼻、置勒於爾口、使爾仍由其途而返。今歲不耕而稔者、為斯民所食、明年亦然、至於三年、可稼可穡、栽植葡萄園、而食其果、既遇斯事、可以為徵。猶大之遺民、必下深其根、上結其實。耶路撒冷所遺之民將出、郇山得救之人將往、因我耶和華熱中必有此為。又曰、亞述王必不入此城、不以干戈弓矢陳於前、不築壘以攻擊、必由所來之途而返、不入此城、我為己榮、亦為我僕大闢故、將扞衛此城、加以援手、我耶和華所言如此。是夕耶和華之使出、在亞述營擊其士卒、十八萬五千、詰朝惟見尸骸而已。亞述王西拿基立遂歸尼尼微、值崇拜於其上帝溺落之殿、其子亞得米勒沙哩斯弒之、遁於亞喇臘國、更有一子、以撒哈頓繼位。

尼哥遣使告約西亞曰、我與猶大王何與、我不攻爾、乃攻我敵、上帝命我亟行、我蒙上帝祐、爾勿攻我、恐自取戾。

我震怒斯民、使亞述人、為杖箠以擊之、亞述人亦有禍矣、我民偽善、我必震怒、使亞述人擊之、攘奪其貨、蹂躪其身、若逵衢之糞壤。
