“‘ Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses— if you can put riders on them!

“ I’ll tell you what! Strike a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria. I will give you 2,000 horses if you can find that many men to ride on them!

耶和華兮我為人藐視、亦已太甚、人享安居、常加凌侮、驕泰者流、亦虐遇余、願爾矜憫余、矜恤余兮。

曰、或欲修好、或欲戰鬥而出者、俱當生執之。

告其同宗及撒馬利亞軍旅、曰、此荏弱之猶大人何為、斯邑既燬、盡成瓦礫、彼乃欲復興工作、立竣厥工乎。吾儕豈容其建城獻祭哉。亞捫人多比侍立、曰、彼所築之石墻、即狐登之亦圮。我禱曰、我為人藐視、望上帝鑒察、願彼之凌辱人者、反以自受、見虜於異邦、遭其虐遇。勿宥其過、勿赦其罪、蓋彼故令版築者中心忿怒。

今當以人質於我主亞述王、則我予爾馬二千匹、爾能使人乘之否、不能、曷能禦我主之僕、武士長至微之一乎、然則爾恃埃及、欲得車馬、亦奚以為、

便哈達更遣人告亞哈曰、從我者眾、爾撒馬利亞地之塵、我軍各取一握、猶且未足、如以為足、則願上帝降罰於我。

彼曰、我有智有能、克勝鄰邦、虜其財、得其地、惟自恃其能而為之。我擊天下、得人貨財、如覆巢取卵、雌鳥遠飛、無有哀鳴而鼓翼者。

非利士人環視、見大闢年甚少、其容維赤、丰采甚都、則藐視之、

又謂之曰、汝來、我取爾肉、給於飛鳥走獸。
