“‘ Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses— if you can put riders on them!

“‘ “Go ahead and make a deal with my master, the king of Assyria. I’ll give you 2,000 horses. But only if you can put riders on them!

“ I’ll tell you what! Strike a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria. I will give you 2,000 horses if you can find that many men to ride on them!

耶和華啊，求你憐憫我們，憐憫我們！因為我們被藐視，已到極處。我們被那些安逸人的譏誚和驕傲人的藐視，已到極處。

他說：「他們若為講和出來，要活捉他們；若為打仗出來，也要活捉他們。」

對他弟兄和撒馬利亞的軍兵說：「這些軟弱的猶大人做甚麼呢？要保護自己嗎？要獻祭嗎？要一日成功嗎？要從土堆裏拿出火燒的石頭再立牆嗎？」亞捫人多比雅站在旁邊，說：「他們所修造的石牆，就是狐狸上去也必跐倒。」我們的神啊，求你垂聽，因為我們被藐視。求你使他們的毀謗歸於他們的頭上，使他們在擄到之地作為掠物。不要遮掩他們的罪孽，不要使他們的罪惡從你面前塗抹，因為他們在修造的人眼前惹動你的怒氣。

現在你把當頭給我主亞述王，我給你二千匹馬，看你這一面騎馬的人夠不夠。若不然，怎能打敗我主臣僕中最小的軍長呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車馬兵嗎？

便‧哈達又差遣人去見亞哈說：「撒馬利亞的塵土若夠跟從我的人每人捧一捧的，願神明重重地降罰與我！」

因為他說：我所成就的事是靠我手的能力和我的智慧，我本有聰明。我挪移列國的地界，搶奪他們所積蓄的財寶；並且我像勇士，使坐寶座的降為卑。我的手搆到列國的財寶，好像人搆到鳥窩；我也得了全地，好像人拾起所棄的雀蛋。沒有動翅膀的；沒有張嘴的，也沒有鳴叫的。

非利士人觀看，見了大衛，就藐視他；因為他年輕，面色光紅，容貌俊美。

非利士人又對大衛說：「來吧！我將你的肉給空中的飛鳥、田野的走獸吃。」
